How to get there

High Newton-by-the-Sea is served by several buses a day from Alnwick (with frequent connections to Alnmouth main line rail station) and Berwick, but most visitors will want to use a car.

FROM THE SOUTH:

Leave the A1 at Denwick, just north of Alnwick (signposted B1340 to Seahouses) and turn right at the top of the slip road. Follow the B1340 via Rennington to the village of Christon Bank where it turns right at a T-junction. At the next T-junction, about a mile (2km) later, turn left then immediately turn right onto the minor road to Newton-by-the-Sea.

FROM THE NORTH:

Turn left off the A1 in the dual carriageway section about 3.5mi (6km) south of Warenford (signposted to Ellingham, Doxford Hall, Preston and Chathill) and about 0.5mi (1km) later turn sharply right at a crossroads (signposted to Doxford Hall). Follow this road for about 2.5mi (4km) until it bears sharply right, then just over a mile (2km) later turn left onto the B1340 just east of Christon Bank. At the next T-junction, just under a mile (1.5km) later, turn left then immediately turn right onto the minor road to Newton-by-the-Sea.
