How to get there

By car: Ty Capel is in the village of Darowen which only accessible by single track roads with passing places. Easiest route is from the A489 Cemmaes Road to Machynlleth road. Head towards Machynlleth from Cemmaes Road, after 2 miles take the first left signed for 3 villages; Darowen, Abercegir & Talywern. Travel through Abercegir, after 1 mile turn left up a steep hill to Darowen. Ty Capel is the very first building on your right, with the spectacular views!

By public transport: Our nearest railway station is 7 miles away at Machynlleth. Taxis can be prebooked to meet you at the station.

The nearest bus stops are at Commins Coch Terrace (opposite sides of the road depending on direction) on the main A470, a little more than 2 miles down the road.

Getting around

Unless you are a keen long distance walker, to make the most of the Dyfi Valley you'll need your own transport; car, pedal cycle, or motorcycle, all are welcome here. We are about 10km from the nearest train station in Machynlleth, which has a surprisingly good (though quite slow) service which connects well to Birmingham airport (BHX). The railway also connects to much of the Welsh Cambrian coast along one of the most picturesque railway lines in the country. Busses do not come to Darowen, the nearest stops are 4km away in Commins Coch. Several Taxi companies are based in the area.
