Many experts believe the sea around Kalkan provides some of the best scuba diving in the Mediterranean, and there are several expert dive operators available in the harbour. Swimming opportunities are also catered for very well in and around Kalkan. The town has its own pebble beach and there are also beach clubs cut from the rock reached by water taxis from the harbour. A short distance away there are two very attractive and unspoiled sandy beaches—at Kaputas on the coastline to Kas and the magnificent Patara beach (voted the world’s best beach by The Sunday Times) - it even has its own Roman amphitheatre! Kalkan is ideally located for the exploration of many cultural and ancient sites including Patara, Kas, Olympos, Myra and Kekova.
