Getting away from the beaches, St Palais offers a different face, more reserved but just as authentic.- Visit the twelfth century Roman church with its exhibitions. Check out the quarters of town that were neighboring villages in times past - the dwellings of farmers and winegrowers. Today they are highly prized locations in which to live for the locals: Courlay, Maine Bertrand, la Ganipote, la Palud, Puyravaud.-Here you will get a feel for the side of St Palais more in tune with the lesser known, gentler and more discreet character of the Charentes. In the Platin and Nauzin quarters of town you will find youself surrounded by sumptuous villas called "fantasies".
