Florø is the nearest city, and is the starting point for all public transport to the island of Fanøya, where Batalden Ishus is located.

The ferry company Fjord1 has several departures daily from the main harbour in Florø. The boats have a car deck with limited space, and if you want to bring your own car on the island you must book in advance. You may also leave your car in Florø at a parking area near the harbour (a fee applies). Note that it is not possible to take a car at the 16:00 departure to the island. Fjord1 har flere avganger daglig fra Fugleskjærskaia i Florø. Båtene har et bildekk med begrenset plass, og dersom man ønsker å ta med egen bil på øyen må man bestille plass på forhånd.
