By air: There are daily scheduled flights from Eleutherios Venizelos and Athens International Airport to and Nikos Kazantzakis and Heraklion International Airport. Charter flights from most European destinations arrive from April to November to the airport.

By Sea: Daily itineraries link the port of Heraklion and Chania with the port of Piraeus (Athens).

By bus: There are daily and frequent bus services connecting Heraklion with the main towns and villages of the entire prefecture as well as with the towns of Chania and Rethymnon.
