Trulli il Castagno is a farmhouse with four trulli houses with all modern confort. Our homes trullo can accommodate up to 5 people in fascinating buildings built about 200 years ago and carefully restored by our family.
Trullo Panoramico is the largest trullo on the property (ca. 60 square metres), comfortably accomodating up to six people and perfect for a family with three children.
It has a front and a rear entrance, a comfortable, rustic style bathroom with shower, a kitchen with gas/electric cooker, a full set of crockery & all the utensils you could possibly need, including a traditional Italian espresso pot & fridge/freezer etc. The living room has a rustic tile floor and an equally rustic table and chairs. There are two bedrooms; the largest has its own wardrobe, there are one double or three single beds available according to the guests' needs and the possibility for placing a sofabed. The second bedroom, with its characteristic arched entrance, has a double bed. There is satellite TV and wi-fi for those who wish to make use of internet. There are also a selection of books to share with our guests. Outside there is a private shaded terrace with wooden table and chairs.
At Trulli il Castagno you can also make use of the many communal areas for a fantastic holiday.
Swimming pool completely surrounded by cherry trees, olive trees and ornamental shrubs with a large palm tree in the corner by the rockery and overlooking the water. Here you can enjoy the enchanting sunsets during the beautiful summer evenings. The area is well lit at night and is ideal for a moonlit dip or to spend a few moments listening to the sound of the wind rustling through the cherry trees.
The pool also features easy access for the children at the shallow end but you can also sit on the steps yourself to enjoy the water and the sun while our solar-powered outdoor shower is set in a beautiful stone feature. The pool's dimensions are: 13 by 7 meters with depths ranging from 0.9 to 2.3 meters.
The gardens surrounding the trulli are an essential part of our country house. They are always full of flowers, plants and shrubs, including olive trees, cherry trees, pear and prickly pears. In addition, the garden can offer you seasonal delicacies.
The old stone threshing floor (l'aia) played an essential role in the lives of a small group of farming families. It saw a lot of hard work on their part but also offered them many moments of relaxation and happiness. After all that threshing under the scorching sun there was also time for dances and parties during the long evenings. Today one can look back through time and imagine all the moments of joy and sorrows that have taken place in this little corner of Puglia.
The gazebo is built using dry stone walling techniques with beautiful stone columns. Overlooking the yard, it is the ideal place to take a few moments rest and enjoy the shade, or to quietly read a book in complete relaxation.
The barbeque provides everything you need to rediscover the pleasure of cooking on a grill.
The authentic wood oven is situated a small 'trulletto' providing that special taste which can be only be obtained by this traditional method of cooking.
The outdoor bathroom with a washing machine is available to our guests on washdays.
There are also games area with bike, ping-pong table, slides, climbing for children, and swing.
There is a special waste collection area with separate containers for paper, glass and plastic refuse.
The Trulli il Castagno structure has four independent trulli apartments that can accommodate from 2 up to 5 people. Each trullo apartment has everything you need for your holiday: a kitchen with all the necessary kitchen utensils and appliances; a living room with television, a table with seating for six, a small collection of English books, bedrooms (these are one or two per trullo) with a wardrobe and chest of drawers and a bathroom with a large shower; in two of the four trulli we can offer you a beautiful fireplace to enhance the unique atmosphere.
We can also provide you with maps of the local area and information on local events as well as recommendations for affiliated restaurants and other shops which offer an exclusive 15% discount. Trulli il Castagno also offers home-made specialities, such as our own red wine made with Montepulciano and Nero di Troia grapes, Extra Virgin olive oil, taralli (a regional bagel-like food flavoured with aniseed that is typical Puglian) and our own fruit. We can even prepare breakfast for you.
All in all it makes for an unforgettable holiday in the heart of beautiful Puglia and its fantastic trulli!
Few steps away your trullo home there is also the tavern of Trulli il castagno, where you can buy our farm products such as extra virgin olive oil, wine, taralli, orecchiette and many specialties of Puglia. If you wish, you can dine and taste the best traditional dishes prepared for you by the cook of the house, mamma Beatrice, or better yet attend one of our cooking lesson to bring with you, a little piece of our Puglia.
Trulli do not have air conditioning but the house thick stone walls allow to keep inside a pleasant temperature even on warmer days of the year; the heating system is centralized and it is available during the winter, on request.
Breakfast is available on demand with supply of tea, butter, milk, fresh fruit, jam, homemade cakes and many other tasty products. Breakfast will be independently managed by you using the kitchen and the living room of your trullo;
