A Boutique Residence, 40km from Galle, 5 minutes from Mirissa. Blessed with a private beach, pool and concierge, Casa MiJa can be rented as a complete villa or by room.

Exceptional value for large families and couples looking for an escape.The space nestled between the well-known coastal outposts of Mirissa and Matara, is the idyllic and sleepy village of Kamburgamuwa on the southern coast of Sri Lanka which is as close as one can get to Paradise on this planet. And it is here that we find Casa MiJa is a contemporary villa perched on what can best be described as one of the most astounding and breathtaking stretches of unspoilt beach on the southern coast of Sri Lanka and has been designed as an exclusive, luxurious retreat ideally suited for couples, families and corporate offsites.

Loosely translated, Casa MiJa quite simply means 'my daughter's home' and the inspiration for this villa are the twins Miya and Jade whose parents, avid and experienced travelers were struggling to find a bespoke holiday experience which did not involve a series of veneered tours and madding crowds.

They found themselves returning to Sri Lanka annually falling in love with the island with all it had to offer. Each journey revealed yet another layer of her authenticity which resulted in them literally stumbling upon this half acre beach front property. Two years from that discovery and the property is now ready to receive and embrace her guests.

There are 4 types of rooms which can be rented individually or collectively. Rooms are priced at approximately $200 per night for twin occupancy.

Ground Floor Rooms

We have one Queen Bed suite and a One Twin Single bed room which have connecting doors. Designed with our senior guests or young families in mind.

Second Floor Rooms

The jewel on the property is the Queen Bed Ocean View suite. The centerpiece room has the best view of the ocean.

We have created two family lofts that can sleep 5 guests comfortably; one of which can be connected to the Queen Ocean Suite.

Guest Access

In designing the property, every type of guest has been thought about. Suites have been designed with couples, families and seniors in mind. Two ground floor suites can be opened via inter connecting doors and the three Ocean view suites of which both corner rooms are Family lofts sleeping up to 5 people in extraordinary comfort.

Each air-conditioned suite comes with en-suites that have rain showers and are overtly generous in terms of size and provision of amenities such as hair dryers and aroma therapy burners.

The living area of the residence includes a mix of seating providing guests with social opportunities or the perfect space to fulfill the ultimate temptation of a traveler — idleness. Wireless JBL speaker pods strategically located through out the house can be accessed via a docking station or via bluetooth.

The 20m lap pool ensconced within the lush garden of the property can be accessed via the main living room or the spiral staircase which provides the Ocean view suites on the second level with unfettered access to it as well the jewel of the property: MiJa Beach.

This astounding and breathtaking beach is accessible by gate from the foot of the property and the seven apostles (sea rocks) which rest in front of the property provide guests the idle perch to soak in the surf, dry in the sun and marvel at all that rests in front of them.

By day the sun loungers and outdoor seating spaces allow the opportunity of replenishing Vitamin D stocks and at when the sun sets the true majesty of this slice of Paradise plays out with the night sky coming alive with a countless multitude of stars complimented by the meditative melodies of Buddhist chants filling the air most nights from the adjoining temple.

MiJa was designed so that the guests can be as involved as much as they desire with the local experience and flavors or be pampered to their fill.

The decision has been taken to include only breakfast as complimentary enabling the guests to be able to explore the local fare. Be it Hoppers in the morning washed down with delectable tea or a fresh lobster or crab curry in the evening, the resident chef caters to your needs. The menu is kept simple and the only choice guests need to make is whether you accompany the chef to experience purchasing sea food from the fish mongers.

Accessible by land, air and rail guests can choose to do nothing but soak in all the Casa MiJa has to offer or by exploring the numerous neighboring sites.

The Neighbourhood

Located on the southern tip of Sri Lanka, Casa MiJa is located in between Mirissa and the township of Matara.

Blessed with modern infrastructure in Matara, guests can still experience local life through food. Each little hamlet has its own local fishermen who set sail twice a day returning with their catch at 6am and 3pm daily.

You can experience first hand the energy that comes at the local fishmonger who displays the fruits of the harvest each day at 8am and 4pm respectively.

Getting around

Whilst there is a regular bus service, private car hires are available but if you are looking to zip around there are an abundance of tuk-tuks ready to act as your guides.

Other Things to Note

The Beach Speaks for itself as do the views from each vantage point. This is a beach-front residence.

Why can't I call Raj (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Raj (the owner) a message.

If Raj (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
