MEVAGISSEY

Ocean View enjoys an elevated cliff top position just 5 minutes walk from Mevagissey's twin harbours. A brief walk in the other direction is Portmellon cove with its public slipway, beach and inn.

Mevagissey is an unspoilt, traditional Cornish fishing village with a colourful history of smuggling and an active local fishing fleet. It was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery, with earliest records dating it back to the 14th Century. It’s maze of narrow streets and alleyways are filled with local art galleries and craft shops and the harbour is surrounded by many good restaurants, pubs and cafes where you can relax and enjoy the local produce.

LOCATION

Positioned on the South West Coastal path, the whole area offers stunning coastline views stretching right up the coast to Rame Head and provides the perfect setting for fabulous walks, historic gardens & country houses and beautiful beaches.

A short drive away is the hamlet of Pentewan with it’s sandy beach, sailing club and off-road cycle trail. A little further afield you’ll find the historic town of Charlestown, where scenes from Poldark were filmed and of course, a must for any visitor is the world renowned Eden Project. Fowey is a 35 minute ferry trip across St Austell Bay, with the chance of glimpsing dolphins and other sea life.

The England region

Owner's note: building work is expected to commence on a cliff top house immediately in front of Ocean View towards the end of January 2017, whilst this should not affect the views from the property (as the house will be built down into the cliff rather than up), there may be some inconvenience to guests from noise etc.

The owner would be pleased to discuss what he currently knows about the development with any potential guests who wish to know more.

“Just excellent”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2016

We booked Ocean View as our son was getting married to a local girl from Charlestown so we needed a family base for a week - the house was absolutely perfect - we couldn't have asked for more. We wanted somewhere that felt like we were leaving for the church as if it were our home and it absolutely surpassed our expectations - even the groom stayed with us for the night before the wedding! On the day of the wedding we had breakfast on the terrace in September - the views were amazing - our thanks for letting us rent such a beautiful home.

Thank you for your kind comments Helen and choosing Ocean View for your son's wedding preparations. I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay. Regards, Andrew
