You are renting our high-end 17th century canal house - The Dutch Buoy - located in the picturesque, ancient centre of fishing town Monnickendam – a Dam (= protection against low & high tides) built by the Monks 800 years ago – is lying 8 kilometers Northeast from Amsterdam. Located at the charming ancient harbour. Only a 20 minutes’ bus lane far from Amsterdam Central Station! Nearest Amsterdam Metro Station is 10 Minutes away. Efficient, frequent and cheap public transport! Parking costs in Amsterdam Central are € 7.50 per hour.

Living at two levels in a monumental canal house

Both first and second floor has its own bedrooms and bathroom. The first floor has the communal kitchen and living room. Completely and modern furnished with high-end utilities & facilities.

First Floor Description

Welcoming by our concierge at the crow step. Keys for green front door. Stepping the staircase to FIRST FLOOR (60 square meters). You get what you see: an attractive LIVING/DINING ROOM, red brown parquet and stunning panorama over harbor. Ultra-modern KITCHEN with Gaggenau hardware: exhaust system, gas cooker, top stove, fridge, dishwasher and deep-freeze cabinet. Casseroles & utensils from Michel Montignac. First BATHROOM with bubbling bath, shower, toilet bowl and wash basin. A STORE ROOM with the towels and bed-clothes. And the first BEDROOM with a Timothy Oulton King Size Bed, The Brigadier, 180 X 200. This bed is designed for today’s deep divers, high climbers, dream chasers and highflyers who each day strike out to change the world … again. The Brigadier mattress, 32 cm - 12½ ” thick, has two full layers of individual calico pocket Energy springs and is richly extravagantly upholstered with New Zealand wool, 100% long stranded cotton and the finest Mongolian horsehair. Your nights will never be the same.

Staircase to SECOND FLOOR (40 square meters): second BEDROOM. From an Excellent Queen Size bed you are looking into the electrifying monumental fishery harbor. Oak floor. Second modern BATHROOM - gorgeous view over District Lake - with shower, toilet bowl, urinal and two wash basins. READING CORNER adjoining the library with two cosy arm chairs. STORE ROOM with Miele washing machine & Condense Dryer. And the third BEDROOM with an excellent queen size bed for the 5th & 6th renters.

Concierge and Cleaning Lady

Owner is represented by the Concierge. Your communication partner during your stay. They are responsible for The Dutch Buoy. The concierge knows locally and regionally everything about week(end) trips, shops, guided tours, public transport, etc. They are steering the Cleaning Lady. Our canal house is always immaculate! Long term renters get weekly a 3 hours house & laundry cleaning. Short term renters (= 7 nights or more) get one midweek cleaning for free.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Rein (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
