From the owner

This comfortable home with magnificent views is a fabulous base from which to explore a beautiful region of France. The house is situated in the picturesque medieval village of Mont-St-Jean in the Auxois region of Burgundy. Two and a half hours from Paris, the town is easily accessible via the A6 (sixteen minutes away).

This stone property has an open plan design on three levels, a cooks kitchen and lounge on the ground floor, A spacious bedroom on the second floor

All rooms face the garden, rolling hills and local vineyards…The garden has niches and nooks to read or sunbathe in, a walled kitchen garden, fresh herbs, and field planted with wildflowers.

Winter guests can snuggle by the log burning stove and summer guests can relax on the wooden veranda.

On August 15th Mont St Jean hosts the largest brocante in the Cote D,Or, which attracts bargain hunters worldwide. There are also local weekly Vide Greniers (antique markets) in the summer months. For golf fans, the house is ten minutes from the Chateau Chailly golf course.

There is a tennis court available to hire from the Marie.Mont St Jean makes a great base for exploring the many medieval villages in the Auxois and wider area, Semur-en-Auxois, Flavigny-sur-Ozerin, Avallon, Beaune, Dijon, Chablis, Noyers and Vézelay. Balloon rides from Vézelay and Beaune with France Montgolfieres. A variety of restaurants to suit all budgets are within a leisurely drive, although we recommend you book ahead for Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu, Marc Meneau in Saint-Père (Vézelay), or Le Chassagne in Chassagne-Montrachet.

The house has a garden apartment on the lower ground floor, which is also available for rent.

The owner lives nearby and will be available to assist you if you have any queries during your stay.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Anna (the owner) a message.

If Anna (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
