From the owner

The apartment 'Città della Pieve' is situated on the ground floor of a large villa called Casa San Carlo, in the lovely hills of Umbria, right on the Tuscan border. Thanks to its elevated position, the apartment offers a lovely view of its surroundings, as it overlooks sloping hills covered with olive trees, woods and vineyards. Looking up, you'll see the belltower of Monteleone d'Orvieto, a charming little village just a mile up the country road.

The Apartment is one of 7 apartments located in the big villa Casa San Carlo and has a large 14 x 8 communal swimming pool.

(The pool is open from april 1. until oktober 1.)

The apartment 'Città della Pieve is suitable for 1-5 people. It has two large bedrooms, a living room with fully equiped kitchen corner and a cosy fire place, a bathroom with toilet, wash basin and shower. The first bedroom has a double bed and a single bed and room enough to place a baby cot. It has double doors that open into the garden, to the terrace with an outdoor table and chairs.

The second bedroom has a double bed and also has doors that open into the garden at the other side of the house, where guests can also sit at their own private outdoor table.

The living space of the apartment is approximately 60 square meters.

From the ground floor apartment Città della Pieve, it is just a short stroll through the garden down to the large swimming pool of Casa San Carlo, where all guests can enjoy the lovely weather and fantastic views all around. There are sunbeds & sun umbrellas for communal use.

In the communal area of the villa the guests are welcome to sit and watch television, listen to music, read books on their surroundings, or enjoy a home cooked meal that Dutch owners Torben and Klaartje Heerze will serve during the week. There is also a minibar from which guests can taste Umbrian wines and soft drinks.

In apartment Città della Pieve you will enjoy a carefree holiday; Dutch owners Torben and Klaartje Heerze and their little girls Giulia and Elena, will be at your service. They can give you cultural tips on the medieval cities nearby, serve a lovely breakfast on the terrace outside or cook you a daily 'menù del giorno' if you don't feel like cooking yourself.

You can easily reach apartment Città della Pieve from the A1 motorway from Florence to Rome. The exit is at Fabro, only a ten-minute drive from the house. The international airports of Florence and Rome each lie within 140 kilometres, Perugia can be reached within 45 minutes, Pisa is 210 kilometres.

As a region, Umbria - also known as the Green Heart of Italy - offers not only astonishing nature but also a lot of culture: the unique art and architecture, castles, churches and medieval monasteries in cities such as Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Orvieto and Spoleto attract admirers from near and far. Throughout the region you can find works by famous artists such as Giotto and Piero della Francesca and by the Umbrian painter Perugino - his native town Città della Pieve is located seven kilometers from Casa San Carlo.

Because of its position on the border with Tuscany, guests can easily reach famous Tuscan cities as Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena and Florence by car or train.

Torben and Klaartje (or Claire, in English) also export Umbrian and Tuscan wines and freshly harvested olive oil to The Netherlands, so they have a lot of knowlegde about the vineyards in their area. A nice wine tasting plus tour of any Vineyard is thus easily arranged! Also, for those who really want to experience Italian life, they can arrange for a Vespa scooter for their guests, so that you can sightsee all around Umbria on your own.

In January 2008 we moved from The Netherlands to Monteleone d'Orvieto, Italy, in order to live and work at Casa San Carlo, welcoming guests to beautiful Umbria.

Why can't I call Klaartje (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Klaartje (the owner) a message.

If Klaartje (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
