Set in the tranquil wooded countryside of the Loire valley in France just 20 minutes north of Saumur and 45 minutes from Tours airport. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and those looking to experience the delights of French culture, particularly the many chateaux and wonderful Loire Valley wines. The Le Mans circuit with it’s classic car and 24 hour races is only 45 minutes north.

We have been welcoming guests to Le Bousi since 2011.

The house itself is completely secluded with the nearest neighbours over 500m away so you can enjoy the peace and quiet. You will have sole use of our small pool located next to an expansive summer kitchen. The house is spacious and well-furnished providing you with everything you need to cater for a large group or family while you are on holiday. You can dine al fresco on the main terrace, BBQ in the summer kitchen or let the kids run wild in the garden. Should you wish to venture out there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.

The house boasts 5 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. The master bathroom is located on the 1st floor and provides a bath an shower. The 2nd bathroom is a shower room with separate toilet on the ground floor. There is a private pool so you can enjoy the sunshine on a lounger, you don’t even need to make it back to the house for a refreshing drink as our summer kitchen has a fridge, living and dining area and a brick built BBQ. Bedlinen and towels are provide.

Local markets are a real feature of French life. The best market is held in Saumur every Saturday. However, this may not be convenient due to our handover/takeover day. We would therefore recommend a trip to La Fleche, around 35min north through Bauge. They have a great local market held every Wednesday. Alternatively Noyant has a small market on a Friday morning. Tuesday's Langeais market is highly recommended.

There are choices to be as active or as inactive as you

If you can plan a visit to a local vite grenier normally held every Sunday in the local villages around Mouliherne. We will leave a list of where these will be held in the folder in the house or you can check with the tourist office. While they resemble the UK car boot sale they are still very French and often you will find food and wine, or even a vintage car display.

There are a range of companies offering canoeing down the Loire river and this is an experience well worth undertaking. This can be a 2 hrs to full day experience and costs from around 15-20 euros.

Within easy reach of the house are the camping village of Fontaine Guerin approximately 15 km where there is a swimming lake with a small beach and lifeguard in attendance during Jul and Aug. There is also a lovely swimmer lake in Saumur the tourist centre for the area. Saumur also has a large number of shops and restaurants, for younger guests the train ride around the town centre is recommended. Fishing is also available for only 3 euros per day. Bike rental is available from the Bauge tourist office and there are a range of well-marked cycles ways. Saumur tank museum is well worth a visit if you get a rainy day.

Getting around

0nly 3km from the nearest small town but 10km to Baugh or 20km to Saumur. The house is central to many of the sites of the region but you will need to get out and about. A car is highly recommended, if not essential for your stay.

House rules

Well behaved dogs are allowed provided dog waste is cleared from the garden on departure. If our care taking staff have to pick up after your dog we will charge an additional £100 fee.
