The space

The Cottage was closed for renovations last year. We're excited to be back running again & feel sure you will enjoy the space.....

The porchway has space for boots & hanging coats & wet weather gear. This opens into the hall where there is seating for pulling on & off boots, or planning your day's activities. There are child height hooks for coats too. Nestled under the stairwell is a cloakroom/loo.

The sitting room has a very comfortable & easy pullout sofabed....spacious for one & comfortably cosy for two.

An assortment of reading chairs, beanbags & pouffes provides plenty of choice.....lounging at floor level on our supersoft wool carpet, or comfortable upright chairs for catching up on your book reading -feet up on the pouffe or not!

The cupboard is full of children's boardgames & puzzles ( there is an extensive library of children's books on the upstairs landing......also a large lego/duplo collection, wooden train set etc. in the linen cupboard)...

Please note we do NOT have a TV but have internet throughout the Cottage.

There is a wall mounted electric fire which, while superbly efficient, is to complete the atmosphere in the room- the under-floor heating throughout the ground floor keeps the Cottage very warm.... ( upstairs there are radiators throughout- the heating is powered by the wind turbine, as is the electricity in both the Cottage & main house......should you need an adjustment to the timers/settings, please let us know- we kindly request that you do not alter the settings yourselves).

The kitchen is bright & spacious. It is well equipped for family catering but please note: there is NO DISHWASHER.....a double sink island provides plenty of access for social washing-up- our guests have told us that this is a fun bonus providing opportunities to connect over the dishes!

Upstairs the Kingsize bedroom has plenty of space for the travel cot if required. This bedroom shares the family bath/shower room with Twin bedroom 1.

Twin bedroom 1 has twin beds which can convert comfortably into a Kingsize bed.

Twin bedroom 2 has an ensuite shower room ....& also has the ability to convert into a Kingsize bed.

Please let me know if you would like twin or kingsize beds at the time of booking.

Please leave the linen /toy cupboard on the upstairs landing as you find it. If you require more bedding or towels, please let me know. There are wool blankets in the cupboards of all the bedrooms should you need an extra layer.

Guest access

There is a track running through Shanbolard that leads within minutes to the beach and shoreline.

As we are a working farm we sadly can not allow dogs or random roaming around the farm and yard. Across from the main avenue gateway is a field going down to the lake - you are welcome to walk through here but please be mindful of keeping gates shut ......especially if there are sheep in the field. We will be happy to tell you all the many wonderful places to explore in the surroundings.....please feel free to ask for info and advice.

Other things to note

We have quite a steep staircase in the cottage, so to help families with small children, we have provided safety gates at both the top & bottom of the stairs. These are easily removable.

There is also a good selection of books, toys and board games available for guests with families.

We recommend good outdoor waterproof clothing & boots to ensure you have an enjoyable visit !

Because we are a working farm we don't allow pets or random roaming- please feel free to ask us where you can walk on the property. There is a track leading to the Ocean which is available to guests- please shut all the gates behind you.
There is also access to the lake, with stunning mountain views.

Why can't I call Claire (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Claire (the owner) a message.

If Claire (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
