Original Features Meet Modern Conveniences

Situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, our 3-bedroom gite has undergone a complete transformation since we bought it in 2012. Once a rundown ruin, it’s now a cozy and comfortable home that combines original charm and character with modern conveniences.

When you walk through the front door you’ll immediately notice the restored inglenook fireplace, log burner and original oak beams. But you’ll also notice modern soft furnishings, a 32-inch LCD television, and good lighting. Picture yourself the next morning, lounging on the large sofa, sipping coffee in front of the warm fire!

If you’re the kind of person who likes to remain plugged into the world, then you’ll find high speed Wi-Fi and a television equipped with UK FREESAT and DVD player, allowing you to watch all the UK channels whilst in France!

The large and airy kitchen is equipped with range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and all the cookware you could need. There is also an oak dining room table that comfortably seats 6 people. As one of our past guests said:

“I adored the huge kitchen dining room. The cooker is just fabulous. We happily bought local produce and cooked most evenings - the facilities were so good.”

If you’d like to know where to find that local produce, we can help direct you. We also have a peach tree in the garden and you’re welcome to help yourself, when in season. And, a short walk away, are acres of apple orchards. You can’t help yourselves to those, but we’ll tell you where to buy them!

In fact, we’ll answer any questions you have about the local area, from the best wine tours to the local family restaurants. My parents, John and Cynthia, live around 10 minutes away and we provide you their phone number should you have any questions. Don’t worry; they’ll leave you in peace during your stay!

Bedroom and Bathroom Configuration

Our gite has three bedrooms, one downstairs, and two upstairs.

Bedroom one is located on the ground floor, with king bed, oak furniture and an en-suite bathroom containing a rain / massage shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail. This downstairs bathroom can also be accessed from the lounge (both doors have their own keys!)

Bedroom two is located on the first floor, with a king bed and plenty of storage. It benefits from being a dual aspect room, with original oak beams, stretching from the front of the house to the back.

Bedroom three, located across the sunlit hallway, has two single beds, and original oak beams.

Both the second and third bedrooms have a Juliet balcony, adding to the character of the gite, and provide views over the church, village allotments, and surrounding countryside. These are false balconies named after Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. With the windows open they have the appearance of balconies.

The upstairs bathroom has a rain / massage shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

The Outside Space

Outside is a private courtyard and garden, including our very own peach tree, which you’re free to pick from! On sunny days the garden is bathed in sunlight throughout the day, with the patio offering some welcome shade in the afternoon.

In the summer, as the day draws to a conclusion, sit yourself down on the patio furniture, pour a glass of something cool, and unwind in peace whilst your partner starts the BBQ! We provide utensils, fuel and matches.

Beyond La Pellerine

We are ideally located in the heart of the Loire Valley, just 28 miles from Tours, and 20 miles from Saumur.

The region has plenty to keep your entire group entertained. For the culture vulture we have wine tours, historic chateaux, and the famous Loire River, and more. If you have a more active side, there are some interesting walks and bike rides from the gite.

We love sharing our local knowledge with all our guests. If you have any questions about the historic sites, wine tours, restaurant recommendations, local markets, and more, please let us know. We’re happy to discuss your plans and advise on the best options for your group!

To summarise the key points are:

* Quiet village location.

* Comfortable lounge with log burner, original beams, terracotta floor tiles and seating for six.

Interaction with guest

My parents live locally to the gite, so they will be there to meet and greet you when you arrive at the gite. Having lived in the Loire Valley for many years, they have a wealth of information that they can pass onto our guests. I am always happy to chat on the phone, or by email to answer any questions / concerns guests may have.

Thank you for the review - glad you had a good holiday and enjoyed the gite - as you say the gite is close to the major motorways of the region, BUT far enough away to be nice & peaceful. Do come back again - we would love to see you in 2018. Mark
