Our property is not just a cottage; it is a place... a place with activities, wildlife, flora, fauna, fruits, trails, small waterfalls and much more.

NEW: Recently added A/C and fiber optic internet access. Wi-Fi throughout. Also, the road to the property is now partially paved. Much improved.

Gated and Private. Meticulously maintained 65+ acre private retreat with flowers and wildlife too numerous to mention. Over 3 miles of private hiking trails, many leading to fantastic vistas of the surrounding mountains, volcano and lake.

Our Blue Butterfly Cottage is aptly named for the common sighting of the Blue Morpho Butterfly around our property.The Cottage is approximately 500 square feet with a full kitchen, small dining area inside or outside on your private veranda, full bathroom w/shower, full living room and sleeping loft with a full/queen bed and a full size sleep sofa in the living area. The cottage is ideal for 1-4 persons looking for a private and tranquil setting to serve as a base for exploring the area or simply wanting to get away from it all.

We have a 1 acre private natural swimming pond with platforms and swimming ladders for ease of use. Make sure you check out our photos.

We have many banana, pineapple, orange, mandarin, grapefruit, lemon, lime, breadfruit trees and more. You are welcome to enjoy all that the property has to offer.

We are only 2.5km (1.5 miles) outside the Town of Nuevo Arenal. Close to shopping, tours and dining. Our location makes a perfect base for those wanting to explore all Costa Rica has to offer or just relax and finish that book or project you have started --- also ideal for artists looking for that perfect place to capture the beauty of Costa Rica without having to leave the property.

No doubt Costa Rican roads can be a challenge sometimes. It is most unfortunate when a guest decides to go against the advise of more experienced travelers when renting a vehicle in Costa Rica. GREAT NEWS THOUGH !!! ... THE ROAD TO OUR PROPERTY IS FINALLY UNDERGOING A COMPLETE OVERHAUL... ALTHOUGH WE ANTICIPATE IT WILL TAKE A FEW MONTHS FOR COMPLETION, WE ARE EXCITED -- THERE IS ALREADY A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE. Nuevo Arenal is less than 2 miles down the hill from us and our guests average about 10-12 minutes to get there -- we expect that to be cut in half or less once the road is complete.... Great News!! If you are looking for quiet, pristine, natural beauty, check out our Blue Butterfly Cottage..

The machines came to scrape and re-grade the bad spots and when they apply the new gravel and compaction it will be a breeze. What a welcomed sight and sound when we heard the machines working...

Why can't I call Bret (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I retract my booking request?

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Bret (the owner) a message.

If Bret (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
