Description from owner
The house is at the end of a quiet no through lane, near vineyards, in the charming mediaeval village of Ousson sur Loire. It sits on a most beautiful stretch of the river opposite a nature reserve which supports ospreys, herons and beavers. The village has two bars, a good restaurant and a great supermarket five minutes by car with wonderful fresh fish and produce.
Within five kilometres, there are three small towns Chatillon sur Loire, Bonny sur Loire and Briare that all have restaurants and hold street markets at least once a week. Excellent river fishing (local permits available), great cycle rides along the river and canals, tennis, dune buggies and canoeing nearby.
Security deposit of 750 pounds sterling. This will be paid on arrival and will be refunded in full within two weeks after departure subject to damage inspection.
The property must be left clean on departure, otherwise a 60 pounds sterling charge will be deducted from the security deposit.
Linen and towels are included in the rental price.

Well equipped fitted kitchen with cooker, 2 fridge/freezers, dishwasher, espresso/coffee machines etc. French windows open onto a terrace overlooking the river. A comfortable and light living room with lounge area, dining table and chairs opens onto a terrace with fabulous views.
The ground floor has two bedrooms, one spacious double overlooking the river, and one twin. There is a bathroom, a shower room and one separate WCs.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms - three doubles, two overlooking the river, with basin and WC and one triple. There is separate shower room and another with WC.
On the lower level there is a utility room, two washing machine, ironing board and a second fridge/freezer,and a large games room for the children, teenagers and childish adults. It includes a table tennis table, table football, 104 cm flatscreen TV (loads of films),DVD, stereo system, ipod dock, two sofas and chairs.

The terraced garden includes a graveled area with a large teak table and parasol which sits twelve - perfect for summer barbecues.
Below a 3.5 x 9m heated swimming pool overlooks the river, with wooden deck and pool furniture.
Stone steps take you through a slopping garden, and a gate leads to the river bank. Enjoy relaxing in our colourful hammocks, while the birds sing - you may even see an osprey dive right in front of you!

“Nice house in a beautiful location”
We knew from the photos that the location would be good, but if anything the views were even better than expected. The house is conveniently located for supermarkets and has a good restaurant (but not cheap) at a hotel within walking distance. Lovely warm pool. The basement was great for the older children in our party. The local canoe hire is also to be recommended. The only negatives we had with the property were the terrace/steps around the house weren't ideal with a very active 2 year old - could do with gates at the top of the stairs. Also on the odd evening we had to eat indoors, the dining/seating area was a little cramped for 10 of us. These were only minor points on an otherwise fantastic holiday.
Response from the owner Thank you for your review,as it happens we had planned to increase the dining area this winter which will double the space and create plenty of room for up to 12 people.The works will be finished by the end of March . Your comment about having gates on the terrace was also very useful and these will be installed at the same time. Many thanks.

This was the perfect place for us and our friends - plenty to see and do, and we also did a lot of relaxing. House fitted all our needs and the pool was a great addition. Bird life fantastic. Beautiful villages and towns nearby, good markets and excellent restaurants - what more could we have wanted? The owner was friendly and helpful, and we have booked to go back in September 2013.
Response from the owner So happy you had a great time,we are having works done to make the house even more comfortable by adding a sixth bedroom with en suite shower room and enlarging the dining area so that it can comfortably accommodate 12 guests. Images will be posted as soon as the works have finished which will be March 2013 at the latest.

Gerrard, the owner was very friendly and helpful even to the point of arranging a meal for us on the first evening after a long journey. Booking the property was easy and completed without any problems. The property is in a perfect setting, very peaceful and relaxing, the best! Excellent facilities, the younger members of our party especially enjoyed the swimming pool and games room. Ousson is very quiet and sleepy but did manage to buy a fishing license from the local Tabac. Excellent supermarket only five minutes drive in next town. This is a good location to explore any of the numerous chateaux along the Loire plus local vineyards. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and we hope to return someday.
