Padstow is very dog friendly, however some of the high end restaurants and the Vineyard do not permit dogs, so this can pose a problem for some guests who cannot crate their dogs.

To help our guests make the most of our stay , we have teamed up with a local Padstow dog sitting company .

Response from the owner
We always welcome feedback from guests as that is the way we maintain our high standards, we are saddened that on this occasion our standards and that of our guests were incompatible. It is the first time in almost six years, it has ever been necessary to make a deduction from a guests damages deposit. To address the points raised, We were happy to allow the guests early access, our property manager had carried out a quality control check before their arrival and the property was immaculate and everything working correctly. Around 3pm the guests called to say the alarm was going off, as the manager was in the locality, we were able to attend immediately. Within a few minutes the alarm had stopped and the cause identified as a power outage in the area. Western Power had the service reinstated in 30 minutes . Unfortunately this was an issue out of our control! Later that afternoon the guests contacted us again to say the coffee maker had stopped working and the tv did not work, so once again our manager visited. There was no issue with the TV , no ideal what had happened with the coffee maker, other than it had been overfilled and stopped working. Unable to reset it, we immediately ordered a new one which was dropped off the next morning. A few days later, the guests called again to say they had locked themselves out! Again we dealt with this very quickly and professionally. I am not sure that the guests knew what to expect from Cornwall, they were very annoyed that Uber Eats would not deliver, despite me trying to explain that Cornwall does not have Uber ! They were also disappointed that there was no “entertainment “ near by. I believe the comments regarding privacy relate to a phone call we had after several concerned neighbours contacted us. They reported that the teenage boys were trashing the front garden . The front garden had just been planted up for summer. The weather had been bad, the boys apparently without the parents knowledge had decided to turn the front garden into a football pitch. They damaged the plants , shredded up the lawn and had used the cream painted side wall of the garage as a goal. The garage wall was absolutely filthy covered in mud. On speaking with the parent she agreed that the boys would go and scrub the mud off the wall. Unfortunately this also took the paint off and left stains resulting in the wall needing jet washing and repainting. Having never had complaints from the neighbours before, we were extremely concerned. We have a large back garden, which is mainly grass and suitable to children to play in. There are lights around the hot tub, one of which had been smashed off the wall with bare wires hanging. The area had been checked by the hot tub engineer, housekeeper and our manager before their arrival, the light was not damaged at that time. On discussing with the guests on check out what had happened to the light, they claimed they hadn’t wanted to trouble us reporting it ! We accept that accidents happen, we know the odd plate and glass get broken, or something spilled, we are all human and this is never an issue for us. However, this could not have been accidental , On arriving at the property on changeover day, our housekeeper for the first time ever reported that due to the condition it had been left in, he would not be able to turn it around in 6 hours for the next guests. This resulted in the manager and one other having to attend to help. The property was left in a very dirty unkempt condition, rubbish left, dirty dishes, etc It appeared that for some reason the guests had needed to use extra bedding , which along with the report from the neighbours indicated that extra guests had stayed at the property at some point. The vast majority of our guests are repeat customers who stay with us every year, they treat the property with respect and we love welcoming them. Unfortunately peoples standards do differ and these guests were not a good fit for our property.
