Description from owner

Description

A traditional holiday hideaway in one of the most beautiful villages in Cyprus. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, quaint coffee shops in the surrounding villages. A varied selection of good restaurants. There are established cycle tracks and hill walks surrounded by limestone walled terraces festooned with flowers and wild herbs. Experience the warm clouds that sweep over the Leonis plateau on summer evenings. The village of Pano Arodes has conservation status and lies on the Leonas Plateau which is famous for its vineyards and wineries and stretches down to the Akamas Gorge through ancient orange and olive groves towards the turtle beach at Lara Bay. For the more adventurous, some of the most scenic panoramas can be enjoyed by driving down from Pano Arodes through Inyia and down to Lara Bay then further along to Coral Bay to the south or Latchi to the north. Both locations have many beautiful beaches and historical sites to wander through with many excellent restaurants which offer both traditional Cypriot cuisine (meze) and a large selection of fresh seafood and fine wines.

Villa Krypsonas is situated within a private walled courtyard and built in traditional limestone and based on the original building which dated back to the 19th Century. The owners live in an attached stone house but offer the guests complete privacy when occupying the two bedroomed stone villa attached. The villa has been designed to retain the charm and feel of the original building using a combination of traditional stone masonry techniques and modern eco-friendly building materials with solar hot water and garden lighting. The accommodation retains an 'old world' feel with a modern bathroom suite and one additional shower/toilet on the ground floor. Solid wood kitchens with polished stone work surfaces and traditional furnishings. Krypsonas offers the opportunity to experience a holiday in a traditional Cypriot home in one of the most beautiful villages you will find anywhere on the island. A traditional courtyard offers total privacy with shaded pergolas with intertwined grapevines alongside a 8x4 pool overlookingf the fields and vineyards around Pano Arodes.

Interaction with guest

The owner is a local artist and has a vast knowledge of the village life and culture and is able to provide information regarding local sites, restaurants and beaches along with the ability to provide information about the Akamas region. We have two bikes which can be used free of charge or contacts to rent mountain bikes or rental cars. Locals are available on occasion to take guests on informative walks around the Akamas area. The owners have on occasions provided traditional meze evening meals for up to 4 guests for a set cost per person. Local vineyards can be easily accessed as can some of the regions best wines. We do have a small dog on site but she is usually kept away from guests and does not go into the guest accommodation.
