This beautiful, four season Nova Scotia rental cottage is on Canada's Bay of Fundy, near Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Everyone is welcome – multi-generation families with kids, small groups of friends & colleagues, couples, solitary travelers, and dogs – if visitors promise to keep their dogs off the furniture.
The only vacation rental property on the beach in Fox River – visitors to other vacation rental properties in the area have to drive to the beach. Our luxury cottage is located on a one-of-a-kind point of land on Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy - directly on two beaches, with the world's highest tides right at the doorstep. The east side of the cottage is on a stunning salt water marsh, which fills and empties with the tides – walk across the ocean floor at low tide & wonder how you did it when the tide comes in and completely covers where you walked! The south side is on a virtually deserted beach – go for long walks & treasure hunt for driftwood, shells & who else knows what you might find?
The dining room is one of our favourite rooms. It is a huge room with windows on three sides, and so has beautiful ocean and marsh views any time of the day or night - the chandelier came from Toronto.
The dining room table was made locally - its legs are hand-turned. This table can easily sit ten people, and is great for dinner parties, for working remotely, and for working on personal projects. The dining room chairs are all wood, and were all refinished for the Beach House. Connection to our wireless highspeed internet service is in the dining room.
The kitchen has the usual appliances - fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster. The double sink makes meal preparation and clean-up easy, and you can look out the window over the sink as you prepare your meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with lots of dishes, including Dansk Arabesque, tea towels and so on. All you have to bring is your food!
The kitchen counter tops are white ceramic tile. The kitchen is separated from the eating area by a bar, where you can work or sit on stools and watch the ocean.
The sitting area has three walls of windows. The wood fireplace was made using rocks from the beach.
The office/bedroom on the main floor provides a quiet, private place for visitors who do not want to climb stairs to the 2nd floor - the main floor bathroom is right next door. A drop leaf table is used as a desk, and a vintage bookcase houses loads of books for easy reading.
Everyone who visits the Beach House loves the main floor sun room. Great for naps, visits, projects, with direct access to a deck and adjoins the eating/sitting area.
The bathroom on the main floor has a toilet, sink and a shower. The wainscotting is pine. Liz found the old medicine chest above the sink in a barn she owned, and it was refinished for the Beach House. Open the door of the medicine chest, and you can see that its back was made from a tea chest.
The master bedroom is a wonderful place for a peaceful sleep. The queen size bed is covered by a handmade Nova Scotia quilt. There are lots of queen size pillows to make reading in bed comfortable and to let you wake up, watch the sunrise, and the nod off to sleep again. Bedroom balcony has transparent walls, for easy viewing.
The second bedroom has two vintage double beds, with new box springs and mattresses. The metal frame bed was Liz's maternal grandparents bed, and the spool bed came from her Dad's family. Each of the beds has a quilt and extra pillows. This bedroom has a custom made tall chest of drawers, and a refinished birch dresser.
The upstairs bathroom is one of the most relaxing bathrooms you'll ever find. It has a pine ceiling and walls, a rain shower, and a spa bath. You can soak in the bathtub and look for miles up the marsh.
From the upstairs sun room, you can walk out to a private balcony, with transparent sides,so that everyone can see the pristine elegance of nature when napping and taking in the sun. An outdoor light makes it easy to use the balcony any hour of the day or night.
