Tucked away in a charming valley nestled in the heart of Tuscany, this luxurious country home will exceed your expectations and give your family memories to last a lifetime. A Parino is a beautifully restored historical chestnut mill just minutes away from the famed medieval city of Lucca. A Parino is conveniently located near Pisa, Siena, Florence, Cinque Terre, Barga and Forti dei Marmi, giving you access to a different piece of Italy every day and night. The villa’s antique cotto floors and high beamed ceilings are authentically Tuscan and beautifully accent the elegant furnishings, antiques, and classic wrought iron furniture. The enticing rustic elegance is only furthered by the expansive veranda that stretches across the front of the property, offering views of the surrounding hillside and the luxurious modern pool, ideal for al fresco dining and sun bathing. There are also a mountain stream and woodlands on the property for hiking and discovering local wildlife. A Parino comes equipped with a renovated guest apartment, perfect for guests seeking more privacy. The guest apartment is just behind the main house. It also has a ultra modern kitchen, a living/dining area and two bedrooms. No matter what kind of get away your looking for, A Parino is the perfect place to call your temporary home.
The main garden has seating in a pergola and also many sunbeds by the pool. There is a covered car port to shade the cars from the sun. The property is protected by electric gates and surrounded by a large hedge and fence.
A Parino is lovingly serviced by our friends and neighbours, Paolo and Alda Benedetti. Their services include daily cleaning and maintenance of the property. They are also willing to cook dinner for guests at an extra cost. Michael Ringrose is our great friend and manager of the property, who will welcome you to this beautiful part of Italy.
It is the tranquility and serenity of A Parino that most guests love the most. Deep in a hidden valley, it is the beauty of the location that attracts regular visitors. The house is surrounded by hillsides, which are full of local wildlife - deer, foxes, porcupines, badgers and wild boar. Above fly a pair of nesting eagles while swallows dip down to catch a fleeting dip in the pool. At night, the fireflies come out.
Children of all ages love A Parino. While the TV and Internet are available, few actually use it. Most, especially the younger ones are playing down by the stream, where they build dams and catch tadpoles or frogs. The older ones go wandering in the hills or swim in the pool. There are also board games available: chess, scrabble, playing cards etc when they prefer the coolness of being inside.
The property is located on the Via Clodia, the ancient Roman road, so is surrounded by history. It is also at the centre of the Gothic or Green Line, which was the German defensive line against the Allies in WW2. Above the property in the hills are the old fortifications.
We are Fred and Aideen. Born in Ireland, we have spent most of our life together all over the world. We currently live in Singapore but A Parino is our cherished holiday home which we try get back to at least once a year.
We first fell in love with Tuscany on a family holiday 17 years ago. We saw about 10 properties in one week and then immediately fell in love with A Parino, a true diamond in the rough. After 2 years of full renovations the house became completely transformed into a rustic paradise! The previous owners are the Benedetti family, whose own home overlooks the property on the road to Domazzano and they feel so proud of what has been done to their old home. This house is also much more than a holiday home to us. We all feel very close to A Parino - it's part of our soul - and any visitor will tell you the same. It is utterly enchanting.
