The Rustic Room is one of the bedrooms in Blue Wren Cottage.
This is probably our most popular room with a real touch of the pioneer spirit of our Aussie forebears …. from an antique Singer treadle sewing machine to a 100 year old metal chest as well as ‘electrified’ kero lamps.
The bedhead is a magnificent piece of WA Kauri, the walls are pine panelled, the ‘dunny door’ is Aussie Turpentine, the lean to supports are made from the cypress pines on the property.
The Rustic Room can accommodate 2 singles in king single beds or alternatively can become a couples room with a king bed.
The bathroom has been created to resemble a bush timber and corrugated iron lean-to with heated slate floor, a bushrock water feature and pull chain “dunny”. But we still have all the modern day luxuries with a double spa, electric blanket, hair dryer, fluffy bathrobes, quality toiletries and king size bath towels … the best of both eras!
The vanity is made from good, old-fashioned weathered fence palings & corrugated iron! Kathy has made all the ceramic bowls, basins, soap dishes and dispensers. The resident magpie on the roof of the lean to, the saddle and the little quirky touches add to the uniqueness of Blue Wren Cottage.
French doors open out onto the verandah and there is always something happening out there …. it is worth waking early to see the spectacular sunrise from the comfort of your bed, maybe you will see a series of vintage cars pass by on a weekend touring trip or the animals may be up to their antics!
