Please note this is a mountain ecosystem. There are bugs, scorpions, snakes, spiders and other wildlife. Most likely during your visit, you will see and encounter one or more of these species, some on purpose and others not on purpose. The biggest question we receive is about scorpions. There are two types of scorpions that are native to the Smoky Mountain area. Neither of these are poisonous like the ones out west. They can sting, but it is equivalent to that of a wasp or bee. While we treat our home for all possible species available through a professional company, scorpions are still able to climb up drain pipes and enter the home. If you see one of these, please do not panic. Simply step on it with your shoe and dispose of it. They tend to be more active during hot and dry spells, looking for a source of water. So your odds of seeing a scorpion are higher during the summer months when there has been minimal rain.
A note from the new owners - We recently bought Family Matters after visiting the area multiple times every year for the past couple decades. After looking at well over a hundred homes, we came across this cabin named Family Matters. It seemed perfect from the get go simply because our family matters so much to us. After seeing it in person, it really fit all of our needs and criteria. We love spending time with our family here and making new memories together. We hope that your family will find it to be a good fit as well. We hope that you all enjoy it as much as we do and have a wonderful trip to the area!Nearby Attractions - Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Cades Cove, Dollywood and Splash Country, Dixie Stampede, Titanic, Wonder Works, Tanger Outlet Shopping, Ripley's Aquarium, golfing, fishing, tubing, Gatlinburg, horseback riding, swimming, hiking, biking and much, much more!
