From the owner

You are in serenity to settle your breath and your heart. Ten minutes away is a fork into Sequoia or Kings Canyon (must see) National Park. Both provide the Giant Trees, caves, varieties of hikes and fishing locations. Or simply a walk from the cabin

Your Peaceful Heavenly Retreat cabin sets up on a mountain slope at 4200 ft looking out westward. Sitting comfortably on the deck provides a beautiful arrange of colors in the setting sun. You want peace and quiet: a road less traveled passes the cabin and the distance to the nearby cabin offers you soothing tranquility. For the early riser, get a cup of coffee and enjoy yourself on the deck or take a nice walk on a road less traveled (Hogback Rd.) for a scenic view.

When you arrive late and hungry and tired, there is a Belgium waffle maker on the kitchen counter. In the pantry under the stairway, there is waffle mix [THERE IS OIL BUT NEED EGGS] and syrup. In the refrigerator, there are sticks of butter. Mixing bowls, spatulas, utensils, and plates are provided in the kitchen cupboards.

If you desire a cup of coffee, there is a Keurig on the counter with coffee pods and creamers in the drawer below. Those of you who brought your favorite coffee beans, in the cupboard to the right of the sink, there is a grinder and a French Press. Also, in the cupboard, is a white electric teapot for the hot water.

Also, the cabin provides bed linen and towels. There is a laundry hamper in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs closet across from the pantry. (Please put used linen and towels in the hampers at the end of your visit) If you are looking for additional trash bags, on the dining table side of the stove counter, there is a low level storage door containing trash bags. Outside under the deck, are two sanitation containers for trash and recycle. Thank you for using them.

Know what poison oak looks like if you plan on hiking through the mountain brush and dress appropriately. In the down stair's bathroom, there is cleansing solutions for before and after encountering poison oak.

We look forward to suggestions that would enhance your experience.

Getting around

Your comfortable location at Peaceful Heavenly Retreat is about 7.3 miles to both park's entry. In less than 2 miles, the junction dividing a different direction for the two parks.

To the left is Kings Canyon National Park. 10.5 miles from the cabin is the Grant Grove Visitor Center. At the Visitor Center, there is a large screen presentation of the canyon that is worth the viewing. In less than a mile from the Center is the incredible grove of giant trees including the General Grant Tree. Also, very close to the Center, is the Grant Grove Touring Horseback facility. [The phone number is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)] Continuing to view the Kings Canyon, from the cabin (17 miles), is the turnoff to Hume Lake (about another 3 miles to the lake). In another mile, your first spectacular view of the Kings Canyon is about 18 miles from the cabin. At 31 miles is Boyden Cave and the bridge over the South Fork Kings River. (The water is very swift. Be careful.) At 36 miles, is Grizzly Falls. Stop and enjoy the mist. 5 more miles is the Cedar Grove Visitor Center and Cedar Grove Touring Horseback facility. [The phone number is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)] To finish the end of the road, the Roaring River and its paved path is 4 miles from the Center, and the Road End is 6 miles from the Center. At the Road End is a Ranger Station. If you are taking just a day hike (out and back such as Mist Fall), make a curious contact at the Ranger Station. If your intentions are to stay over night in the wilderness, you need a wilderness permit. [Contact the Cedar Grove Visitor Center to acquire a permit: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)]

In the near future, I will provide distance to Sequoia key locations.
