Set on a small fish farm surrounded by beautiful river meadow and woodland, the cottage and garden face south, with views across the farm and river Trieux to the wooded hills on either side of the valley. No longer farmed commercially, the trout and salmon farm was one of the the first in Brittany, built in 1938. It is on a designated scenic route approximately 15km from the historic market town of Guingamp. The nearest village is Plésidy, 3km along a lane opposite the house.
There is ample opportunity to discover regional culture, take part in the frequent local social events and enjoy the local countryside, woods and coast. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding and local attractions are plentiful, including castles, churches, abbeys, museums, theme parks, busy markets and fishing ports. The cottage is easy to reach from the UK and a short drive from the beautiful cliffs and sandy beaches of the Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast).
English speaking caretakers in the village.

Further details indoors
The house is self-contained and centrally heated. Although there are steps up to the front door the kitchen is at ground floor level because of the slope of the land. It has a south-facing central sitting/dining room with a table and chairs at the window, a double sofabed, armchairs, TV (French TV only) and DVD player. A selection of DVDs is available. Both bedrooms have similar south-facing views. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The bathroom has a shower/bath. We have a cot and high chair if required. You can hear the sound of the waterfalls supplying the fish ponds.
Further details outdoors
The small private garden is fully enclosed and has a grass terrace, table, chairs and a barbecue. Boules, badminton set, bikes, etc. are available. Beyond the garden in a grassy, pondside area are some tyre swings and a 12' trampoline. Access to the house and garden is either down steps from the road or through a gate on the farm side of the house where you can bring your car to park and unload.
The construction of the fish farm, largely unaltered since the 1930s, blends well with the surroundings. The fish were kept in weathered concrete tanks connected by an ingenious arrangement of pipes and waterfalls, most of which are now disused and a haven for wild flowers and wetland wildlife.
The river runs through the property and beyond the garden there are other waterside areas where you can relax, barbecue and eat outside. These are unfenced so please bear this in mind if you have young children. There is access across the farm and over a bridge to the woods running up the valley through our land. You are very welcome to explore and fish along the river bank and information is provided about walks from the farm. We are situated some 6km from the source of the river, which is fed by two picturesque lakes. In summer you can walk on stones across the river, while in winter the flow increases tenfold or more and can be quite spectacular.
