The England region

Well appointed within the City of Plymouth, Plymouth Hoe & Barbican, Theatre Royal, Restaurants and Marine aquarium.

Designed by Victorian architect Sir John Rennie and constructed between 1825 and 1831, Royal William Yard is steeped in history.

Considered to be one of the most important groups of historic military buildings in Britain, it is also the largest collection of Grade 1 listed military buildings in Europe.

Accessible by land and sea - try the Royal William Ferry from the Barbican Landing Stage – it has lots to offer visitors. Enjoy the long Autumn days with a cosy hot chocolate in the casually hip Royal William Bakery and be tempted with one of their freshly baked pastries.

Stroll around the Yard and take in the atmosphere and imposing buildings, which were recently cast as Downing Street for a TV film featuring Robbie Coltrane. Or why not visit resident artist Martin Bush’s Gallery for exhibitions as well as pieces for sale?

Explore the newly opened tunnel which connects Royal William Yard with Devils Point and offers staggering views of Plymouth Sound and Drakes Island.

While you’re there visit the newest addition to the Yard, Le Vignoble wine lounge. Enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets over the Yard’s world class buildings.

As the day draws to a close, head for the River Cottage Canteen & Deli, Seco Lounge or Prezzo and enjoy a relaxed dinner with friends.

If you visit the Yard on the first Sunday of the month you’ll find the Good Food Market where you can sample and buy food and drink from local producers from 10am-3pm.
