A stay at Wild Thyme is an experience to remember offering something for all the family. Kids love the freedom of being on the farm. Our eco holiday cottage located on our small organic farm has 3 large airy bedrooms and a small single in farmhouse style with exposed beams. The natural materials including cob plaster and limewash, used in the restoration, give the house a peaceful, natural feel and provide a healthy living environment. Three bedrooms (1 double, 1 single, 1 twin) open onto the wooden verandah which overlooks the guests' private garden and the fourth bedroom opens to the garden. There is a comfy living room, modern kitchen and dining room with exposed beams and lots of period features including the original windows and doors. For the cooler months there is a wood burning stove and wood fired central heating system. This is an authentic eco holiday and eco features include solar power, solar powered showers, rainwater collection, recycling, eco cleaning products and a waterless eco toilet (in addition to 2 flush toilets). The garden has an undercover barn space for outdoor meals. Also a bbq, hammock, swing and hanging bed under the walnut tree. The yoga/meditation space provides a beautiful place for relaxation, evening movies or kids' plays. We have a dress up box and lots of games for kids. Guests can help themselves to organic vegetables from the garden or order freshly baked bread, home made preserves and village honey for breakfast. We also make homemade goat's cheese, goats' milk and chutneys.
There is lots to do in the area, including an outdoor summer swimming pools; a fishing lake; lots of wonderful walks through wildflower meadows; local markets and towns with historical features. The village has a rich cultural life and its band and singers travel all over Bulgaria. In the summer there are lots of festivals of lively traditional music and dance. We work with villagers to bring activities such as a horse and cart ride, a Bulgarian meal or walk in the forest. On the farm, we offer activities including making cheese and guests can have a tour of our gardens and animals. Kids love to help collect hen eggs, milk the goats or feed the pig. Also available are ayurvedic massage treatments and meditation sessions. There is also an extensive library so no need to pack any books. We offer a relaxed home away from home where you can choose to do nothing or keep yourself busy with daytrips, walks and farm activities.
