“A place to come back.”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2017

We had a great time at Podere la Casina. We were eight people (4 adults and 4 children), and had more space than we could actually use. The house is very big, and the rooms are bigger than they look by the pictures. There are many rooms, so easy to isolate yourself if you want, but also there are plenty of great comunal areas to spend time together. We stayed for 2 weeks and didnt want to leave the house, but the location has so many interesting touristic attractions that we ended up going to Arezzo, La Verna, Anghiari, Florence, and the castle in Poppi, which were all great. The house is quite remote, but it had all that we needed. The views are absolutely stunning and we took pictures daily to try to capture and remember the beauty of it. In addition, the family was very helpful in coming every day to clean the pool and water the plants at the early hour (we almost didnt see them) and leaving us some delicious italian meals. They were also very responsive and accomodating, as we arrived 6 hours later than originally expected. We all thought this to be the most memorable house and place we stayed so far (and we have been in quite a few) and definitely plan to come back. Thanks Stella, Anna, Giggi, Paolo and Nicolo for the great vacations we had!

Thanks A lot Pedro, we really appreciate your kind words and we are extremely happy that all of you have had a great time at the Villa:) We really hope to see you again soon! Nicolò

“Perfect view”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2015

Very nice Location on the top of a small hill. Very friendly and responsive Family. Fantastic house for two families. We were 4 adults and 4 children. We only used 4 of the 5 bedrooms. Many different outside Areas suitable for all times of the day. Very narrow road up to the house, tricky for larger + lower cars. 14min drive down to the closest town with basic Shopping.

Thanks a lot Jesper! Hope to meet you and your family again. Arrivederci, Stella

“Great villa and surroundings and wonderfully welcoming, helpfull and friendly hosts”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2015

We were welcomed by the owners in an exceptionally generous way with home made pizza, bread and cookies, also cheese, cold meats and a bottle of wine. Really wonderful. Throughout our stay the owners were really helpful in giving advise about where to shop for groceries and even suggested and booked a restaurant for us. Overall a service level which we hadn't experienced in the 8 years of renting holiday houses in the south of Europe. The house is beautiful and the rooms are a good size. The swimming pool was really great, surrounded by enough space and sun beds and a comfortable gazebo giving much needed shade in the hot Italian sun. A refrigerator for keeping drinks cold right beside the pool was present in the gazebo. The swimming pool was kept clean and the garden taken care of on a daily basis by the owners, again always friendly and always helpful. The views are breathtaking. The kitchen was really spacious and nice to prepare meals in. It could do with a little bit more utensils and cooking pots but we managed to cook in a reasonable way with the materials provided. Several nice sitting and eating corners are present in and around the villa. We would like to thank the owners for the wonderful holiday in their great villa at Poppi.

Grazie mille! It was really nice to spend some time with you and your family, ciao!! Stella

“Fabulous Villa in Poppi”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2015

My family and I stayed at La Casina from 23 – 30 May. There were 8 adults and 1 child and La Casina accommodated for us all. The villa was beautiful and views stunning. Plenty of terraces to enjoy the view surrounding the villa, including seeing Poppi and the castle at the top of the hill lit up at night. The land is very well looked after and you will see Gigi every morning tending to the pool. The bedrooms are very comfortable and all were a good size. The kitchen is charming; we all enjoyed gathering round to cook. We also enjoyed using the pizza oven which was a great experience. A chef from a local restaurant was arranged to show us how to prepare a traditional Tuscan meal, which was one of the highlights of our week. The Tapinassi family were extremely helpful when our car broke down 30 minutes from the villa, they arranged a tow truck and a local garage to fix the car for our departure, we also received daily updates on the problems/fixing of the car. Thank you for all your help and letting us holiday in your villa.

Thanks! For us it was a pleasure to help you! We hope to see you soon! Our best wishes for all of you!! Stella, Nicolò, Gigi a Anna

“Warm welcome, fabulous villa, idyllic setting.”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2014

Fantastic welcome from the family. Clean, spacious and full of character. Surrounded by woodland but also great views. On white road about 5km uphill from Poppi, roads a little narrow at times. Pool one depth -1.25m. Well loved and cared for villa. Spacious pool surround and sheltered area with lots of beds and chairs. Plenty of space for the 10 of us. Trains and buses from Poppi with access to Arezzo and Florence. San Sepolcro and Cortona also worth a visit by car. Would love to come back.

Many thanks Peter, hope to meet you again!! Ciao! Stella, Gigi e Anna

“the drive is well worth it”

La Casina is about 15 mins from the small hill town of Poppi in Arezzo Province, the Tapanessi family were wonderful hosts ,you need some guidance from Poppi to locate the villa which was provided by Nicolo ,but once you arrive, the villa's facilities and location are exceptional as described. Our numbers varied over the 7 days from 8-9 persons, the villa was perfect for the size of our group, the family provided us with wine cheeses and antipasto for our arrival. We tended to eat in for either lunch or dinner each day,you just don't wish to leave such a beautiful setting. Poppi ( the village ) is a beautiful hill town, wonderful restaurants across from the Castello, shopping for food/wine supplies was convenient with a COOP and Penny's in the nearby town, but I would recommend at least a day trip to the regional town of Arezzo, the old historical section of Arezzo is something to see and experience. The movie " Life is Beautiful "was filmed in the old section ,take the little train service from Pont a Poppi it takes about an hour to Arezzo,it was one of the highlights of the trip . Gigi Tapannesi was at the villa most mornings tending the pool and any needs of the guests ( without intruding ),he is a charming man as are his family. On the Thursday before our departure Nicolo brought out to the villa some fresh tagliatelle which his father had made that afternoon ,more than enough to feed 8 persons.Overall it was a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of eastern Tuscany.

Many thanks for your review Bobby! Hope to see you again, Ciao!! Stella

“A wonderful property on top of a hill”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2014

We have been a Group of 5 couples and we have spent one week at the La Casina. We all had an amazing time at the property. The house offers a lot of space and it is very nice with a lot of lovely details. The house was absolutely clean. The house includes 4 bed rooms and 1 bed room in the tower. You should know that the tower bed room has no seperate door. The garden is absolutely great. A lot of space and very looked after. The pool gets cleaned every day. The house is on top of a hill and you have an amazing view! For those who enjoy the quiet and don´t mind to have a little drive to the next village this is the right choice!

Many thanks for your review Regina! Hope to see you again, Ciao!! Stella

“Tuscany at its best”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2012

We stayed here for 2 weeks back in September 2011 - a mixture of family and friends. The villa is in a wonderful setting, high up in the hills and with the most fantastic views out over Poppi and the surrounding countryside. On the first day we were met in Poppi by the family and we followed them to the villa - don't be surprised by the drive to the villa with the last mile or so being on a dirt track/rough road - it's well worth it. Being at the end of the road meant it was so peaceful and we also didn't have to worry about disturbing anybody else. The family aren't fluent English speakers but they are a delight - so friendly and helpful - they are very concerned that you have a good holiday and enjoy staying at their villa. Luigi left us breakfast one morning and a fruit tart another day - he comes regularly to clean the pool and do any maintenance jobs. We spent many happy hours sitting at the long table on the terrace outside the kitchen - eating, drinking, talking, enjoying the view etc. Then there is the loggia above the terrace which was a lovely place to have a drink before dinner - watching the lights coming on in the distance as the sun went down. We went to the Saracen Joust in Arezzo on the first Sunday in September where "knights" on horseback representing the different areas of the town charge at a wooden target and score points according to accuracy. Many of the locals dress-up in medieval costume and we ended up having dinner in the winning quarter during which the winners paraded through the narrow streets - great atmosphere and great fun. We also went to places such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Cortona - drove to all these places quite easily from the villa. The old part of Poppi itself is also well worth walking around - a lovely medieval hill town. We had various friends/family members staying with us for different periods over the holiday - several came by train from diverse places - Arezzo (an hour's drive from the villa) was the best main-line station for people to get to. There is a station in Poppi which is on a branch line from Arezzo. We made pizzas one day and used the villa's pizza oven, which worked very well - you just have to make sure it's good and hot. When driving into Poppi from the villa, there is a great local restaurant just when you turn left onto the road coming from the old part of Poppi - they have a lot of tables outside with one of those sail-type shades over the tables. We ate there several times and it was extremely good value - I think we were the only non-locals there - afraid I don't know the name but definitely recommended. We all have wonderful memories of a great holiday at this villa and would happily return there.

Dear Nickie, many thanks for your words. I'm glad you had a nice holiday, hope to see you and your family again! Ciao!! Stella, Gigi, Anna e Nicol
