From the manager

Located right next door to the Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Course – a short stroll from the 1st tee, in the charming coastal village of Portpatrick - Cedar Lodge offers magnificent sea views across the Irish Sea.

Ideal for families and golfing groups alike, Cedar Lodge has four bedrooms, all with en suites, and sleeps 8 people. A wooden lodge, the house is decorated in a New England clapper board style externally, whilst inside it has the same stylish interiors as our existing Corsewall Estate Holiday Cottages. It is only a five minute walk from the seafront and the centre of Portpatrick.

The lodge has been completely refurbished from top to toe. Inside, our Portpatrick holiday house has a large open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room with a wall of French doors, which open onto a large deck, which offers amazing sea views. In the spacious sitting room area, there's a corner sofa, three armchairs around the electric wood burning style stove and a 40" smart television.

The kitchen is well equipped with a bean to cup coffee machine, double oven, dishwasher, gas hob, fridge-freezer and washing machine - all the appliances are Neff. It has a good range of glasses, cutlery, Port Meirion plates, pots and pans, oven to tableware, knives, utensils etc. There's an antique restored pine dining table in the dining area, which seats 8 comfortably and a couple of bar stools for chatting up the chef when they are preparing supper!

This luxury Portpatrick holiday cottage has four bedrooms, three of which can either be super king size doubles or twins - depending on your requirements - and all have en suite shower rooms. The fourth bedroom has a bunk bed and an en suite bathroom. As with all our cottages the beds have thick feather filled duvets and pillows, crisp white linen and large fluffy bath sheets and hand towels for each guest.

We now have a laptop friendly workspace, in the form of a stylish work desk, chair and lamp in Cedar Lodge and Superfast Broadband too.

Outside Cedar Lodge has a flood lit timber deck with a picnic table and a hard wood garden seat – you'll find it's a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink and take in the view.

Cedar Lodge has an enclosed garden, possibly not entirely dog proof though, with a lawn, mature shrubs and car parking space for three cars.

Portpatrick is a charming and pretty small fishing port, with a lovely sandy beach and harbour as the focal point of the village. There are a good number of restaurants, cafes and pubs along the waterfront including Campbells - one of our favourite restaurants, the Crown, which has a good reputation for good pub grub, the Waterfront, the Fernhill, Portpatrick Golf Club and the Port Pantry - which does lunches, tea, coffee and irresistible cakes. There's a well stocked village shop and post office, in addition to a bakers and a number of gift shops. A farmers' market, packed full of wonderful local produce, is held in the village hall once a month. The village also has a putting green, children's play park and tennis court.

Cedar Lodge is right next door to the Portpatrick Dunskey golf course so it's ideally located if you are playing a round or two of golf in south west Scotland. The Club has two courses - the Dunskey, which is an 18 hole, 5913 yard Par 70 course and provides a good challenge for golfers of different standards, while the Dinvin, a 9 hole, Par 3 course well suited to families. If you do take your eye of the ball, both courses have the most amazing views across to the Isle of Man, the Mountains of Mourne in Ireland and the Mull of Kintyre. Visitors are made very welcome.

There are other good courses nearby - Stranraer Golf Club, Wigtownshire Golf Course and St Medan Golf Course near Port William - which made the headlines in 2014 as the most southerly golf club when the Ryder Cup played a flying visit as part of its 'Four Corners of Scotland' tour before the event teed off at Gleneagles. To round off a golf trip to the south west in style, the championship course at Turnberry is only an hour's drive up the coast.

There are lots of walks right on your doorstep as Portpatrick sits at the gateway to the Southern Upland Way. From our Portpatrick holiday accommodation you can join the route on the cliffs above the harbour and walk along the coast, enjoying beautiful views over the sea to Ireland and passing tempting sandy beaches including Laird's Bay and Killantringan. The first leg is just over 13 miles and takes you inland to Castle Kennedy. After having completed that, there are nine sections to complete the challenge to reach Cockburnspath on the east coast, near Berwick upon Tweed.
