The history of Chateau De Gressoux:
Jean Etienne Louis Roussel build his "castle" at the time that he was together with his wife Madame de Dambly a lady of nobility from Paris. They stayed at the chateau during the summer months. Jean Etienne Louis Roussel died in 1857 and left all his possessions, including Chateau de Gressoux, to eight municipalities. His wish was that it would be used as a charity to teach underprivileged young people a craft. This charity work continued until 1937. The financial legacy of Roussel was not sufficient to maintain the buildings and provide education. That is why an agreement was signed with the Bourdault institution and the domain was managed by the Sisters of Charity until 1986. Since 1986, the Chateau has been owned by a French theater director until Bert became the owner in 2008.
