From the owner

This house is a section of a 400 year old farmhouse that once served the nearby Chateau de Tornac. It has three bedrooms over 3 levels, and commands outstanding views across vineyards and the Chateau itself. The thick stone-built walls keep the house cool during the heat of the Languedoc summers, and for outdoor living and dining there is a top and lower terrace with tables and chairs and barbeque in the mediteranean styled garden, with olive tree and the fragrance of rosemary and lavendar bushes.

The house is full of character, with a big family fully equipped country kitchen upon entrance, a lounge sitting area with English TV, wifi, a double bedroom at ground level, bathroom with shower and toilet, and one twin and one double bedroom upstairs. At the garden level there is a utility room with a washer, freezer, storage room for bikes etc. and a separate toilet. The house has stairs to the front and rear, so would not be suitable for people with mobility issues.

The price listed is inclusive of linen and towels; cleaning is charged at €100 per week.

The hamlet of Tornac is just south of the artisitc town of Anduze, and about one hour drive from the airport cities of Nimes or Montpellier. This town, on the edge of the Cevennes mountains, and only 1 hour from fine beaches, is a great base for any type of holiday - either exploring the historic past, Roman heritiage, woodland walks or lazy days eating the fine local produce.

There are many local sites and things to do, and some of them are as follows;
- There are many activities for the kids, from the organized (water parks, zoos and forest activities) to the natural (local rivers and streams, walks in the country and visits to the beaches).
- Roman heritage; the following towns/cities all have significant Roman ruins and/or places of interest related to the Knights Templars and the Crusades; Nimes, Arles, Ales, Uzes, Aigues Mortes, Grau de Roi, Pont du Gard to name but a few.
- Other local activities include the local restaurants and café's, visits to local museums, the Bamboo gardens and the potteries of Anduze, the steam train to St Jean du Gard from Anduze, canoeing in the local rivers of the Herault and Gard rivers, horse riding can be arranged in the local areas, walking and climbing in the Cevennes, golf courses at Uzes and Nimes, great beaches around Sete, Le Grau de Roi and Cap D'Agde and no visit is complete without seeing the salt plains and wild horses of the Camargue.
