Rakalj is a small town on the west coast of the Rasa Bay on the southeast coast of Istria, 24 km from Pula.
First mentioned 1190g. was once known for its traditional Istrian pottery, and for sailors, fishermen and stonemasons.
Visitors is attractive due to its cultural and historical sites (the parish church of the baroque building from the 18th century., Castle ruins Rakalj) and ethnographic collections arranged in the native home of scientists and writers Mijo Mirkovic (Mate Balota).
