From the owner

A charming early 1900s lakeside cottage in the Rangeley Lakes Region of northwest Maine with lots of mountains and water. The cottage is on pristine Loon Lake, 4.4 miles (7 km) from the Town of Rangeley. Loon Lake has nesting loons and therefore does not allow any boats with motors so as not to disturb the loons. Canoe and kayak along with paddles and life vests are provided

The cottage has a screened in front porch with sectional sofa and chairs with wonderful views of the lake and private dock. The kitchen is fully applianced and firewood is provided for the fireplace in the living/dining area. The bathroom has an antique claw foot tub with shower. Downstairs bedroom has newer queen size bed and upstairs has two newer single beds with skylights above. All sheets, towels, pillows and blankets provided. There is a washer/dryer room as well.

In town there is a movie theater, multiple restaurants, tennis courts, library and various shops. The surrounding area has many trails for hiking and enjoying the views of the numerous lakes. Power and sail boats can be rented on Rangeley Lake.

Owning another property at the lake, I am often in the vicinity when guests arrive. If not, guests are informed beforehand as to where to pick up the keys. Whether there or not, guests have my mobile number if they need to reach me, and I also provide the name/number of the local caretakers in case there are any issues that need to be addressed.

It is always such a pleasure to host people who appreciate the unique setting of Loon Lake. I have tried to make sure all amenities are there so that guests, if they so choose, could literally stay at the lake the whole time without ever having to go to town. This said, it's great when one does take advantage of the town, one of the first lakeside resort communities in the state. I cannot wait to welcome back guests such as these and I hope to make it even more memorable.

Knowing that one of these guests is a well known landscape artist, I was thrilled that she was able to spend time here. I'm glad that they took full advantage of what was available both in the cottage and the natural setting. Their departure made me question if they had actually stayed there in light of how clean it was. I have been lucky to have hosted many wonderful guests and these people will always be welcome to return.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Steven (the owner) a message.

If Steven (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
