The Getaway is the perfect place to relax and unwind, offering modern, fully equipped accommodation, to suit self catering either indoors or al fresco. Alternatively, guests could visit the pub 100m away, a 16th century coaching inn. The Pub offers a menu which combines food for a special occasion with value for money. The Atmospheric Bar with its Inglenook Fireplace is friendly and welcoming.

Nearby Ringmer village offers two pubs within 10 minutes drive and an excellent, independent butcher, bakers, greengrocer and small supermarket.

The Getaway is surrounded by fields, with a footpath to picturesque Barcombe Mills passing the gate. Walkers are within a short drive of the South Downs National Park, the South Downs Way and the Ashdown Forest, making this a wonderful base for walking breaks.

Glyndebourne is 2.5km away, so a visit to the Opera could be combined with the historic town of Lewes, offering a Norman Castle, Priory and Anne of Cleeves's house.

With Brighton only 1/2 hours drive away, The Getaway is an ideal place to explore this cosmopolitan town whether for its Regency history or vibrant night life.

The property is fully fenced, with a gate as the owners have a small, very friendly dog, with no road sense! Guests are welcome to bring their car inside the gate to unload and regular parking can be found in our off road car park.

Dogs are welcome by arrangement. They must be at least a year old and not left unattended in the Escape. We ask that they are kept on the lead in the garden, as Cara our dog is quite frightened by some larger dogs. There is a gate in the garden opening directly onto fields, where you can exercise your dog.

Why can't I call Joy (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Joy (the owner) a message.

If Joy (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
