From the manager

Romantic, spacious luxury holiday apartment with 2 beautiful bedrooms and stunning views. Balcony.

Located on the second floor of our large Renaissance house built on the old ramparts (1291), this superb apartment is ideal for 2 couples travelling together.

The exceptional and typical atmosphere of this apartment is mainly due both to its preserved traditional timber and its location on the second floor of the old Renaissance house offering charming views in all directions.

Accessible by the wide and comfortable staircase re-built to modern standards - this apartment offers space and comfort with a unique charm, romantic and unusual. It opens to the four cardinal points. A large bow window facing south connects the sitting and dining areas, in front of the roofs of the old medieval village of Riquewihr.

Windows in the alsatian dining space open to the east. Beyond the church tower, gables and roofs of the village, you can see the Schoenenbourg vineyards and the nearby village of Zellenberg. On clear days the view extends beyond the plain of Alsace and the river Rhine to the small volcanic hills of Kayserstuhl Germany (excellent vineyard, just 45 minutes drive from Riquewihr) and to the mountains of the german Black Forest!

On the other side, to the west, the bow window of the master bedroom offers some stunning views on the famous Thieves Tower at the corner of the rampart. The hillside vineyards of the Schoenenbourg hill give way to forests and mountains of the Vosges ... The same view is accessible from the bathroom en suite.

Finally, to the north, the windows of the second and very spacious bedroom are overlooking the impressive rampart of 1291 and offer exceptional views of the vineyards of Schoenenbourg! At harvest time, you'll take a ringside seat to harvesting the precious grapes, and throughout the year, you can follow the meticulous work of the winemaker.

Response from the manager
Thank you for spending your vacation with us in Riquewihr. The Alsatian Hart apartment you have stayed in earned an official 5 star classification after a 112 criteria examination. But when we purchased that big Renaissance house built in 1580 it was just an amount of ruins. Bushes were growing through it. Many people thought we were crazy. But our team of craftsmen specialising in the restoration of historic buildings has allowed us to create an exceptional ensemble of 6 holiday apartments surrounding a garden. Our craftsmen used the same know-how and materials as in the past. The century-old beams have been treated with herbal infusions. The parquet is in solid oak. Even the tile adhesive in the bathroom is natural and does not contain any dangerous chemicals. We wanted our visitors to feel good. Not everybody is sensitive to that kind of approach. We are so happy that you liked what we did. Learning that you have had a good stay is the best reward for us. Yes, Riquewihr itself is a beautiful little historical city, right in the middle of the Alsace Wine Route, on the Rhine River border with Germany. Alsace is unquestionably spectacularly beautiful. A very special combination of history, culture, scenery, and especially food and wine makes it one of the most delightful places to visit in all of Europe. Riquewihr is a very practical base to visit all Alsace, the Vosges mountains and even nearby Germany and Switzerland. Thank you again for your stay and be welcome back anytime!
