From the owner

For rent in France in the Haute Vienne, Limousin, an original signal house for lovers of the French countryside. In the village St Brice Sur Vienne (25 kilometers from Limoges and a 20-minute drive to Limoges airport), you'll find our former railroad house. It is surrounded by woodland and water and is a 1-minute stroll from the River Vienne, a tributary of the River Loire.

The house has all the convenience of village life and free wifi but is surrounded by beautiful natural countryside.

The signal house is privately owned and furnished in its eccentric quirky taste to the of the artist owners. If you are looking for a modern hotel style with pool, this house is not for you.

It can accommodate 4 people in 2 bedrooms,

A double bed upstairs and 2 single beds downstairs.

There is a small folding bed available for a child.

It has a spacious kitchen dining room with a gas hob, full-size electric oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, and a wood burner. 3 armchairs, a large dining table, and 4 chairs but room for more if you need them.

The ground floor has a large bedroom with a sofa, 2 single beds, (convertible to a single or an extra sofa), a luxury walk-in shower room with washbasin and heated towel rail. There is a second toilet in the downstairs bedroom too.

Upstairs is a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and washbasin.

There is a large double bed,table space, chairs and a large wardrobe.

Outside a large secluded garden with plenty of seating and a top garden with a potager and wildlife ponds. and a hammock for relaxing.

There are beautiful riverside walks beginning by the house and in the area. Opportunities for kayaking/canoeing (rent from St Victurnien) and wild swimming in the rivers and lakes of the area.

Included in your rental are two high specification Dutch electric bikes with everything you need to explore the local lakes, rivers, forests and villages.

The bikes are the best way to explore the local area and can take you to places cars cannot reach.

Both bikes are unisex and come with all the essentials: lights, rear rack with elastic straps, a tool kit for adjustments to the saddle and brakes, 3 helmets of differing sizes, tyre pumps, a wing mirror, kickstand, bell, and an extra lock. They both have a rear wheel lock with the same key for the battery. They have a 400 Watt battery which gives you, (depending on weight, weather and the hill climbs you do), up to 100km range on eco-mode. They have a very powerful hydraulic braking system. They have a display which gives your speed, distance travelled and range. Please note: both bikes are designed for riders of medium/tall stature. The Orange C8+ can be adapted for shorter riders by replacing a sprung saddle stem with an un-sprung saddle stem, (provided). This is an easy job with all tools provided. It offers a firmer ride without the spring.

Panniers: we have a range of high capacity panniers to choose from. One (pictured on the C8+) doubles as a back pack. All the panniers are waterproof and are quick and easy to mount and dismount.

In winter there is a wood burner and electric heaters that keep you warm and snug.

In the height of summer, the house remains cool and comfortable thanks to the shutters and thick stone walls.

La Barrière (the rail crossing) is automatic. There is a small local train passing by a few times a day that stops in the village. You get used to this very quickly. A bell rings before each train passes.

In the village a few minutes walk away is an excellent bakery, a chemist, a florist and a bar tabac.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Bruno (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
