There are 2 additional single beds in one of the bedrooms which leads to the pool room and has its own door to the garden...a great space for youngsters/teenagers.
Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped.
The cooker runs on butane. The gas bottle is in the corner under the sink. If the gas runs out, there is a spare in the same place and also another couple by the washing machine in the utility room. The oven has 5 gas rings including a double ring in the middle. The grill is electric – same button as oven but turn to the right. There is also a dishwasher and the microwave is on top of the shelves. If you want to use the ice maker in the fridge, you will need to switch it on – basically take out the ice maker section behind the freezer door (at the top) and locate the on/off switch.
Utility room
This has a range of mostly non-perishable foods, all of which are in sealable containers. Use whatever you see but can you replace please. You will also find the ironing board, washing machine and pegs in here. There is also a range of picnic equipment and cool bags here.
Ground floor toilet
(through the utility room) The vacuum cleaner is located below the basin in the cupboard.
Top of stairs to sous-sol
There is a variety of beach type stuff here (chairs, parasols, wind breaks etc.).
Lower ground floor/sous sol
This has two rooms – a bedroom with a king-size bed & chest of drawers (along with 2 separate chairs which double up as single beds) and a wardrobe; and a games room with a pool table. There are cues, chalk, a triangle, set of balls and a brush as well as a cover for the table – the cues tend to be stored in the main room underneath the stairs. There is also a small drinks fridge. The ottoman in the games room contains some garden games and various BBQ tools. We also have put in place a system to allow air flow when we are not there. You will see a gauze window frame in situ and a Perspex glass window frame to the side. If it is cold, simply change them over.
Main living room/dining room
has a settee, 2 armchairs, table and 6 dining chairs (around the house there are 9 dining chairs in total). All the cutlery, glass and crockery that you could possibly want are in the buffet. The chests have games etc. There is a substantial number of guides and maps of the area on the book shelves as well as a load of English books. Cookery books and and a folder of recipes are also kept here. The book shelves have 3 red box files: one containing tourist-type leaflets, one maps and the other instructions for the gadgets/electrical equipment in the house.
Please only use wood on the fire. Once it gets to a specific temperature, it clicks on a pump which pumps hot air around the house. You will see the logs just outside the front door. There are also 2 butane gas heaters in the house. One is on this floor; one is in the sous sol. To get these going, you open the gas valve on the bottle, hold down the button on the right for about 10 seconds and then push down the spark button - keep both buttons down for a further 10 seconds. There is also an electric oil heater in the sous-sol. There are also a number of wall mounted convector heaters in the house as well.
Mezzanine – the TV room
The settee transforms into a double bed. There is a TV and DVD player. There are a selection of DVDs in the big chest. The TV via the skybox gets very few channels – it was fine until the BBC moved the satellite! When we are able to get there in 2012 we will be returning the TV to French channels. The wooden dresser at the top of the stairs contains the towels and bed linen. We have 2 solar powered sky light windows each with its own remote control which are on the ground floor near the coat hooks, don't leave open when you go out. The sky light above the sofa bed has a blind in case anyone sleeps there. We have a number of fans throughout the house and air conditioning in bedroom 1.
