In the magical land of Salento, among the sweet scent of the Mediterranean vegetation and olive trees lies the small town of Lucugnano, part of the municipality of Tricase. In its ancient and silent towncentre we find a 17th century townhouse 'Il Palazzotto di Lucugnano' with a private courtyard, garden and rooftop terrace. The building has recently been subject to a complete restoration using the materials typical of the "grecia salentina”and carefully rebuilt respecting its original structure. In the typical layout of the houses of the Salento, in its centre we find a courtyard with a garden with large stone seatings with comfortable mattresses and pillows. On the rooftop terrace we have the same stone seating and magnificent cacti plants are spread along its walls. The house inside is painted with white stonewash making the rooms luminous and cool, the bathrooms are lined with traditional hand-painted decorations of rare charm. All the rooms have tall vaulted or barrel ceilings.
Entering the house on the ground floor we find a long corridor which runs through the house, a large kitchen built with marble tops and a table which comfortably seats 6 or 10 guests. a large living room with a stone fireplace and comfortable sofas and armchairs. In the living room a large door window faces the courtyard and garden, where to dine in company during the warm summer evenings. From the living room a staircase leads directly into the master bedroom on the second floor. Still on the ground floor we find an apartment within an apartment: cleverly divided by two doors we have a living room, a hallway, a bathroom with shower and a staircase leading to a double bedroom.

On the roof of "Il Palazzotto di Lucugnano" there is a large terrace overlooking the town rooftops the view is stunning, all around you can admire a unique panorama: roofs of old houses, the church tower with its bells, the surrounding countryside with its plains and hills with the typical vegetation of the Salento peninsula. Here you can spend the day lying in the sun on the mattresses which cover the stone seating or at sunset to relax drinking a glass of Salento wine sitting in the fresh breeze coming from the sea making your stay unforgettable.
Il Palazzotto di Lucugnano is close to the seaside with its beautiful beaches and cliffs. Everybody comes here for sun, sea and seriously good food, fished from nearby waters and produced in the fertile pastures that supply much of the fresh contents of the country's larders, and to sip the increasingly admired local wines, Negroamaro, Primitivo di Manduria and Salice Salentino. With characterful old buildings, an eye-pleasing landscape of olive groves, wild beaches and clear seas, and old towns heaving with baroque buildings, Salento proves irresistible. Brindisi, the location of Salento's airport, provides a gateway to the region with flights from allover Europe. Visits to the historic quarters of the main towns of Tricase, Gallipoli, Nardò, Galatina, Maglie, and Otranto, witness to the craftsmanship of the local stonemasons are recommended.
