From the owner

La Casa Arana was the residence in San Juan of renowned Puerto Rican Painter Alfonso Arana. The first floor apartment was used as guests quarters for artists and friends who visited Arana over the years. The building is located at the heart of the historical sector, next to City Hall and the San Juan Cathedral, down the street from Calle San Sebastián with its restaurants and bars and within walking distance to El Morro, Puerta de San Juan and all the historical and scenic landmarks in Old San Juan. It is one block from the main square, Plaza de Armas, where you can find a supermarket, pharmacies, ATM's, open air cafes and wonderful restaurants. There are two beaches in the island of San Juan just a short walk away or easily reached by public transportation.

The apartment is located on the ground floor, away from the street, with an independent entrance. It is "L" shaped with an interior court yard and it is quiet and spacious. Because of its size, it is perfect for families with children. We do not have air conditioning but air can be kept circulating with ceiling fans. The room, the dining space and the kitchen open to the interior patio. There is also a table and chairs for outdoor dining, reading or surfing the net.

There is a queen size bed and futon couch that converts into a full size bed. We also have a folding bed for infants. The apartment can accommodate a group of four very comfortably. We have other properties listed with VRBO in the same neighborhood, please ask if traveling in a larger group.

In order to confirm your reservation we require a 50% deposit (Reservation Deposit) of the total rent along with a signed Lease Agreement. The second balance payment is due no later than three weeks prior to the check-in date, along with the additional fees of

$100.00 Security Deposit (returned to you by mail)

$50.00 one-time cleaning fee.

For parties of 3-4, we charge $125/night or $800 per week during Low-Season. The rate goes up to $145/night and $900/week during high-season.

During Las Fiestas de la Calles San Sebastian (local carnival, third week in January), we charge $200/night and the security deposit increases to $200.

Please note, there is a $30 dollar charge for check-ins between 6PM-9AM.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Luis Alfonso (the owner) a message.

If Luis Alfonso (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
