Off the beaten track, our Hamlet/Farmhouse is 640 mtrs above sea level. It has stunning views overlooking mountains, valleys and sea. Internally, it has a quirky, stylish, and cosy ambience. The house is built of traditional Sicilian stone with high chestnut wood beams. Underfoot, the flagstone and terracotta tiled flooring lay throughout the house.
On arrival, you are welcomed through oversized pine trees and a short path leads into the rustic tiled and stone walled kitchen. Featuring it's simple wooden table and 4 chairs, the kitchen houses an imposing indoor BBQ, plus bread and biscotti ovens and traditional professional 5 burner stainless steel cooker. Our antique French marble units and a stone food preparation area compliment the room.
The kitchen leads directly into both the sitting room and dining hall, of which seats 10 with its ornately painted refectory table and antique dining chairs. Sculpted and damask fabric covered walls adorn this room, then a second entrance filters into the sitting room which occupies a very efficient wood burner. A relaxed arrangement of unique, leather oriental chairs and bench sofa make this room an enviable solace. Expect total peace, quiet and tranquility from here on.
The surrounding views from each individually, country styled bedrooms, are impressive. There are a variety of books in our adjoining, snug/reading room.
The farmhouse sits amongst out buildings, where the existing hazelnut, walnut, and chestnut dry fruits were originally stored. Since when, luscious seasonal fruit trees have now also been added. Through our woods, donkey tracks, walked by farmers in earlier centuries, now lead to the main roads where there are local coffee bar/amenities and where ( THE OLD GIT'S HANGOUT ) for a glass of local wine and fresh local produce and chill out playing cards. During summer months, the streets are filled with numerous mouthwatering food fairs practically every day. A mare five minutes away, the restaurants and pizzerias are here also in Sant' Angelo Di Brolo which serve delicious traditional Sicilian dishes and takeaway options.
Sandy/pebbled beaches and towns are just 20 minutes away (Brolo, Gliaca di Piraino.) We are also central to the medieval villages of Montalbano Elicona and Piraino. Larger towns, eg.Capo d'Orlando & Milazzo, are great for the bigger shopping experiences. Milazzo provides fantastic ferry connections to the Aeolian Islands, Of course, Mount Etna & Taormina are a must visit. Just to mention we are a stones throw away from The National Park Nebrodi, being the largest in Sicily.
