Out front, the beach is seasonally watched over by a team of experienced RNLI lifeguards and has a number of award winning surf schools offering surf lessons for all abilities and an array of watercraft and wetsuits to hire. The local Pub, Beach Restaurant & Bar, Cafe and shopping facilities are all a handy half mile walk away… Vellandreath Cornish Cottages is a family run business. We have been offering our traditional Cornish Cottages to generations of families, couples and individuals for their holidays for almost 40 years with many of our guests returning year after year.Cats Cradle is located in Vellandreath (also known as Vellan Dreath) is a beautiful, privately owned unspoilt valley designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty by the National trust. Located in by the beach known as Whitesands bay but also known as Sennen beach and Gwynver Beach in Sennen within West Penwith (the Land’s End peninsula) which is the southernmost area of England, and the most picturesque part of Cornwall. It is rich in dramatic beaches, wooded valleys, moorland, rolling farmland, and hidden coves; much of it is designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The far South West is warmed by south westerly breezes from the Azores, and is one of the most unpolluted areas in Britain. It has a special, indefinable quality recognized by locals and visitors alike. Its 144 square miles still supports an active small scale farming and fishing community, with a unique beauty that draws visitors back year after year. The coastline is full of beaches, ranging from safe bathing beaches to secluded coves to wild and rocky places. Some are easily accessible and some less so. Although there are several traditional seaside resorts for family visitors, the area also attracts walkers, naturalists, artists, and anyone seeking a quiet haven, with amenities close by. The sea is crystal clear, jade green, and a comfortable swimming temperature into late autumn. The Land’s End peninsula is in the path of the warm Gulf Stream, and cold weather is rare. Frost and snow are rare, and the climate is ideal for semi-tropical plants, many of which can be seen in Vellandreath’s valley gardens.West Penwith also has more ancient sites than any other area of Britain, ranging from stone age to iron age monuments and settlements. These include four stone circles, 90 standing stones, and numerous hill forts, village settlements, quoits, and burial barrows. There are dozens of beaches on the Land’s End peninsula and they are amongst the most unpolluted in Europe. They range from safe, sandy family beaches with lifeguards to wild and rocky coves. There are many coves where the access is difficult, with wonderfully crowd-free bathing, and others with car parks adjacent to popular resorts. The water is clear and jade-coloured; superb for swimming and surfing, and the beaches are ideal for sun bathing. Beaches vary from sandy to rocky and pebbly, and some

Response from the manager
Thank you for your comments. We are sorry but surprised you found Cat's cradle to be cramped - We feel it is a very good sized space for two people and much larger than average being set over two floors with a generous, well proportioned living area, light conservatory and a good sized double bedroom. Whilst we respect your opinion we have had hundreds of couples who have stayed with us who have loved staying in Cats Cradle often sharing the property with additional dogs and babies - their reviews can be seen on the testimonials page on our website. There is a lovely sea view from Cats Cradle's conservatory but you cannot see it from every angle and if you are short of height then you will need a cushion (or 2!) to sit on to see it whilst sitting down on the sofa. There are footpaths in and out of Vellandreath Valley (the beautiful place where Cats Cradle is located) so people can arrive, leave, get to the beach and take walks, etc. Now and again less responsible dog owners sometimes leave their dogs mess, however most people are very respectful of this area of outstanding natural beauty. Daily we try to diligently look out for such mess and remove it if it occurs. We are adding extra "dog's mess bins" and further signs in the valley, even on the paths outside our land to eradicate this even further. We hope to see you again although perhaps next time, as lots of space is clearly a priority for you both, maybe the 2 of you should consider staying in one of of our 4 person cottages.
