Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight is one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. Just 23 miles by 13, the Island boasts award winning beaches, unspoilt and spectacular scenery and a rich historical heritage.

More than half the Island is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with over 500 miles of award-winning public foot paths and bridleways and almost 30 miles of the seashore has been designated as Heritage Coast.

The island currently has 13 award winning beaches, including three blue flag winners, all of which are managed and maintained to the highest standard. In order for the Isle of Wight to gain these awards the beaches have to meet strict criteria as laid down by EnCams. For example the water quality must meet the standards of the Bathing Water Directive.

Our beaches and esplanades are inspected daily to ensure that they are clean and safe for our visitors.

There are a variety of places to visit on the Island during the autumn and winter months which will suit all ages.

If you are looking for a relaxing break enjoy some of the Island's culture & heritage or our museums & galleries and Island arts & crafts.

We have fun parks, animal sanctuaries and award winning beaches to extreme sports, carnivals and events, there are an amazing number of attractions and places to visit on the Isle of Wight.

Wherever you go on the Isle of Wight you will see evidence of its fascinating past, going back to the time of the dinosaurs. Roman villas, medieval castles, historic houses and dinosaur museums all showcase the Islands rich heritage.

There are plenty of exciting and interesting things to do for visitors of all ages and interests! One of the highlights of any holiday is finding great places to eat and the Isle of Wight has a fantastic array to cater for all tastes and appetites. Eat and drink in an award winning restaurant, a country pub, family friendly establishment, seafront cafe or chocolate box tearoom. Every town and village has places to tempt you, so indulge yourself and enjoy great food, drink and friendly service.

Local Produce

Our mellow climate ensures that the Isle of Wight is home to a huge variety of local produce; the freshest seafood straight from the fishermans catch, locally brewed beer, wine and cider, organic fruit and vegetables and delicious locally made ice creams and deserts.

With over 1000 local, national and international events and concerts the Isle of Wight is the place to be seen, to compete and to party. See a world famous rock star, race a yacht or walk the Wight, then take time out to explore, drink, eat and relax.

Throughout the year, see some of the top bands and artists perform at a range of distinct Island music events: The Isle of Wight Festival in June, the Osborne House Concerts in July and The Bestival, the hippy happening of the year, in September.

Find your sea legs with free 'Try Sailing' taster sessions available during the various sailing events, or take part in the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival or Isle of Wight Walking Festival including the Walk the Wight.

Nowhere in Britain hosts events quite like the Isle of Wight. With a mild climate, a supportive and vibrant local community, a wide range of accommodation, restaurants and pubs, stunning scenery and endless tourist attractions - it's the perfect events venue.

It's easy to see why outdoor activities like walking, cycling and sailing are so popular on this small Island; it has over 500 miles of footpaths, around 30 miles of Heritage Coastline while more than half the Island is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

And it's not only the international events people flock to. Throughout the year, the Island is alive with local carnival celebrations, confirming its reputation as England's Carnival Island.

With its beautiful beach and gardens, its history and tradition, Shanklin is a charming seaside town.

“Great property for family holidays”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

Our family group of 7 adults and 5 children (aged 4-10) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Rush House. Plenty of space for us all, the kids particularly enjoyed the trampoline, garden toys and hot tub and the grown ups made good use of the gym. Kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary crockery, cutlery and implements you might need when catering for large groups and the owner was quick to respond when there was a problem with the microwave (a new one arrived within hours). Location is quiet (a residential area) and convenient - perhaps a bit too far to walk to the beach as rather hilly (especially with small children) but a very short drive both to town and beach with plenty to do in the area (nothing is too far away from anywhere else in the Isle of Wight!) All in all we had a great time and would recommend this property to others looking for a large family friendly holiday home.

“Beautiful property, great location, fantastic owners.”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

From the start nothing was to much trouble, Louise helped to make our family trip ( 11 of us) as fantastic as possible. We went away for mum and dads golden wedding anniversary, 3 generations of our family all together for a week. Louise kept in contact from time of booking, answered any queries I had, and even on the day let me " sneak" into the house 1/2 hour before the others arrived, so I was able to put up balloons and banners to welcome mum and dad! The whole stay was magical! To be honest, I feel the photos on the site do not reflect what RushHouse is really like.... It truly is amazing! Multiply this by 10 and you will be somewhere near! We also spent a few evenings at "The BayHouse".. ( pub/ restaurant) which is also owned by Louise and David. We were made to feel most welcome, Louise and David spent time talking to all the family, and even brought over to our table 2 bottles of " bubbly" on the house, for us to toast mum and dads anniversary. The house was amazing, the owners gave great service and made us most welcome. Nothing to much trouble. Already planning a return visit. Thank you so much Louise and David. Sarah Davis of Hereford.

“Beautiful house and great location”

Great house for a larger group. Beautifully decorated, lovely hot tub, spacious rooms and very clean. There are a couple of rules to clarify with the owner at signature of the contract like the check-in rules to avoid frustration but apart from that we were really happy by the service provided (e.g. we got a gas bottle within hours of request for the barbecue) Shanklin is a lovely village, great place for groups that want to go for a walk or just spend time at the beach!

“Fab house, fab location - fab time had by all!!!”

A family group of mixed ages from 26 to 80 years old, spent a week at Rush House. The house is very nice - spacious and well decorated & furnished. The gym and hot tub were well received. The black leather sofas were extremely comfortable, and the ice making facility in the fridge was put to good use!! The large TV in the lounge area was fantastic - shame the football did not meet the same standard!! The property was very well situated. Close to Shanklin High Street it was a good base for exploring the island. There were many walks & footpaths nearby to the delight of the dog!!! The welcome basket was very well received and enjoyed by all and the hoover system caused much fascination!! Would recommend it to large family groups.

“One word for it....Amazing!!!”

As a group of 15 blokes (aged 25-30) we booked a weekend away at Rush house. The pictures simply don't do this place justice, the house is stunning with 8 bedrooms, 6 en-suites, a gym, wet room jacuzzi, etc, etc. There is a dining room with plenty of seating and the table can easily be manoeuvred together to all sit around one large table. Theres a huge lounge area with seating up to around 20. On arrival there was a welcome pack for us, accompanied by a bottle of wine and some nice confectioneries which was a nice touch, and thanks to clear notifications and updates from the owners the ferry's were straight forward and any extra info was extremely helpful. We were lucky to have a weekend of 25 degrees throughout, so what better to do than chill out on the out door sofa's with a BBQ - not to mention the impressive Jacuzzi, trampoline, footy goal and badminton. I can't recommend this place enough and it really does cater to all ages, a group of us are already planning our return visit in 2015!!

“60th surprise birthday”

Booked this house with family, children, grandchildren and friends for hubby's 60th. House is fantastic with everything you could possibly need. Balloon and banners greeted us and a fabulous welcome basket. House was beautiful, clean and had all the extras you would expect for a 5 star rental. Would recommend johnthan the chef, fantastic buffet at a reasonable price. Would recommend this for family parties and we are looking to book for new year.

“Excellent house, perfect for group holidays or family celebrations.”

Rushhouse is a beautiful modern property in the lovely town of Shanklin. Very well located for local shops and the beach. The property is tastefully decorated and kitted out with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The garden is lovely, complete with a hot tub and large trampoline. The house layout is functional and well suited for families with children as well as adult guests. There are plenty of bathrooms and all bedrooms are a good size and nicely furnished. Highly recommended.

The best holiday property we have ever stayed in. The property had everything we required. The rooms were great and all the family said it was the best holiday ever. The location was perfect, very quiet and inside the house was very cool considering the hot weather.

“Family holiday (17 of us)”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2013

We had a great time at Rush House. The owners were very hospitable and always on hand should we need them. The only criticism I would have would be the quality of the bedding which although it was clean enough, it was quite old especially the pillows bit I'm sure mr & mrs Jones will be updating this and lounge furniture. The sofas were fabric which is not ideal for wear. & tear and I expect some people are not very respectful !!. On the whole I would definitely recommend Rush House and already have to friends.

Thank you joy, it was a pleasure having you and all your family. All the bedding including the pillows were updated in January and we do this every year.We are indeed up-grading the sofas to leather sofas after the summer as we agree cloth sofas can not take the wear and tear as leather sofas can. we hope you visit us again. kind regards Louise Jones

“Beautifully presented house with great facilities”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

This is a lovely house that is great for large groups. There a lots of rooms all of which were spacious and comfortable. The hot tub really helps to make it feel like a five star break! I stayed here with 9 friends and there would easily have been space for a couple more. We all had a great time and were lucky lucky enough to have good weather so we could enjoy the BBQ.
