Forty One Mill Village is a four bedroom lodge situated in Mill Village on Lower Mill Estate - your very own private 500 acre nature reserve. The cottage sleeps 8 comfortably comprising master bedroom (king size oak sleigh bed, lake views), second bedroom (another oak king size sleigh bed with en-suite including walk-in shower), and two twin rooms (one bunk beds, the other single and roll out bed) served by a family bathroom.
The ground floor centers around an Inglenook fireplace with an oversize log burner. A large l-shape sofa and smaller 2 seater comfortably cater for 8 guests. The 40" 4K Smart TV and Sonos streaming music service provide entertainment indoors. Two sets of french door lead to a covered deck and on to a deck extension that comfortably hosts eight for al fresco dining and BBQs looking over a River Thames tributary. The kitchen is fully stocked and includes a Nespresso coffee machine.
*Activities*
Mill Village is situated on the Lower Mill Estate, a 500+ acre private nature reserve. There are seven lakes in the reserve that offer a range of activities including sailing, open water swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing and fishing. There are plenty of walking and cycling tracks along with an outdoor swimming pool for guests to enjoy (open all year round and over the winter for braver bathers!). Please note the Cottage doesn't have access to the Artspa.
Guests can also make use of the tennis courts, children's playground and a multi-sport all weather pitch. The on-site shop provides day to day essential foods and the recently opened Ballihoo restaurant provides a great selection of eat in or take away food and drink.
Please note we do not currently offer guests access to the on-site Spa.
*Changeovers*
Please note - wherever possible we try not to take same day bookings / changeovers. This gives our housekeeper time to turn the lodge around for guests but most importantly means you can arrive as early on your arrival day and leave as late on your departure day as you would like! However, during peak holidays we ask that arrival is after 1600 and departure before 1000.
*The Cotswold Water Park*
Mill Village is in the heart of the Cotswold Water Park - an area larger than the Norfolk Broads, made up of over 150 lakes. There is a wealth of information about the area available from the Cotswold Water Park Website. We provide all guests with a comprehensive guide to local attractions, activities, pubs and restaurants. Jackie, who meets all our guests and lives on a nearby lake as well, is available during your stay to answer any questions you may have about the local area.
*Pets*
As pet owners, we know how hard it can be to find pet friendly accommodation. Our beloved old Spaniel thoroughly enjoyed his time at the cottage and we hope that if you are pet owners, your dog will enjoy the area as well! We welcome guests to bring one well behaved dog at no additional cost. Please contact us if you would like to bring more than one dog with you on your stay.
*Getting around*
Whilst only a 10 minute drive from Kemble station (90 minutes to Paddington) we would recommend having access to a car for your visit to 41 Mill Village. The cottage has one parking space (unallocated) a 10m walk from the front door. Additional parking is available on a first come first served basis from two overflow car parks on the estate.
*Other Things to Note*
Minimum stays are for 3 nights. Minimum 7 night stays on the following dates:- Autumn half term, Christmas and New Year, Spring half term, Cheltenham Races, Easter, Summer half term, Summer holidays
*House Rules*
The Lower Mill Estate is a quiet gated community where good behaviour is expected and unruly behaviour strictly frowned upon (and enforced by on-site security). It is a rule of the development that lodges cannot be let to single-sex groups, hen, stag or sports groups we are afraid.
