How to get there
Spetses Island has no airport. All flights are first directed to the Athens international airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) and then through the port of Piraeus (reachable through taxi or bus directly from the airport). From the port of Piraeus daily high speed boats and flying dolphins leave and arrive after 2h and 30 minutes to the island of Spetses.
By land, through the Peloponnesus, it is 3 hours' drive from Athens to the small harbour of Costa and from Costa u can take water taxis that will reach Spetses' central harbour, Dapia, in 10 minutes. In Costa there are 2 big parking's where u can leave ur car wt safety(charges are by the day). These water taxis are available 24 hours per day. In addition traditional boats (kaiques) can take u from costa to Spetses' central harbour, Dapia between 5 to 15 minutes.
Spetses island is one of Greece's most cosmopolitan destinations and one of its most beautiful islands, situated in the Saronic Sea, quite close to Athens, while it is easily accessible throughout the year, either by car (a 2,5-3 hours drive from Athens to Kosta, at the Peloponese shoreline just opposite the island, and just a 10 minutes trip by boat or water-taxi from Kosta to Dapia, the island's main port); or by speedboats
( a 1,5-2,5 hour trip, depending on the schedule) leaving from the port of Pireaus.
Unlike most Aegean islands, it is a "green" island, topped up with pine tree forest, not beaten up by winds with a temperate and smooth climate throughout the year. The sea surrounding the island is calm and not wavy offering an ideal environment for your holidays.
Spetses is famous for its night life, full of restaurants, fish taverns, bars, music bars and discos, especially the Old harbour area, while at the same time it can offer more isolated and secluded spots where one can enjoy the
beautiful scenery, the sea and his holidays in a different, more quiet way. There are even two summer cinemas (something unique for Europeans) operating during the summer period, for cinema lovers.
It is a unique island, ideal for kids since the use of cars is forbidden, thus no dangers at all, and only bikes, horse-carriages, motorbikes and scooters are allowed to circulate in the main roadnetwork of the island.
However, this doesn't meen that there is a lack of access to all the various spots of the island. Access can be supplied by various means: buses servicing the island - bikes, motorbikes and scooters (are rented by numerous Rent-a-Bike shops, provided you have your driving license with you) - picturesque horse carriages- taxis, water taxis, small rented boats..... you name it.
Also at the Dapia town centre you will be able to discover various luxurious boutique-shops for shopping as well as amenities such as restaurants, fast food stores, super markets, grocery stores, newspaper and tobacco shops, tourist shops, pharmacies, doctors and a public Health centre.
Sites that you can visit during your stay at Spetses are: the beautiful beaches of Xylokeriza, Agioi Anargyri, Agia Paraskevi, and Zogeria at the back part of the island; the Spetses Museum and the actual house of the 1821 Greek Revolution heroine, Bubulina where you can have a glance at how life (and war) was during the era of the beginning of the 19th century; the Old Harbour area with its Promenade and the fortified villas of the chief captains of the island; the convent of Agioi Pantes and the beautiful church of Agios Nikolaos etc.
You will certainly love this small picturesque island with its unique qualities once you visit it!

The same bus can also take you to some nearby organised beaches as the Kaiki Beach or Vrellos.
