Description

Maison Noble Val is a spacious, three-bedroomed house (sleeping 6) down by the river Aveyron in the historic medieval village of Saint Antonin Noble Val, finalist in the 'Favourite French Village' competition in 2016. From the colourful gardens, the jacuzzi or outdoor shower, you can enjoy the views of the Roc D'Anglars, which changes colour as the sun rises and sets. Balmy summer days can be enjoyed on the lawn where everyone can relax on the sunbeds and loungers. In the evenings the barbecue terrace is a great place to congregate with a table seating 6 people. To the rear of the house there is a shady terrace, a quiet place to chill out, relax and enjoy a glass of excellent local wine.

Inside, the comfortable, vaulted living area is open-plan. Much of the furniture, soft furnishings and pieces of art in the house have been made by the owners, Gareth (an upholsterer/furniture maker) and Michelle (a keen gardner and lover of painting and interiors). In the lounge area there are sofas and armchairs to seat 6 people or more and there is a flat-screen TV with English and French (Freeview) channels, as well as Netflix. The kids can play on the Wii and there is free Wifi throughout the property. There are also books, magazines and comics for everyone to use. The kitchen is well-equiped with a dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave and there is a washing machine in the utility room. In the dining area, the table seats 8 people comfortably and there are beautiful views of the Roc D'Anglars from this room. The family bathroom has a bath, shower, W.C. and sink. There is also another seperate W.C. with sink. Sheets and towels are provided. The king-size beds in the double rooms are very comfortable, with luxury memory-foam mattresses and quality cotton bedding. The kids will be delighted with the trendy, twin-bedded room. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes.

Maison Noble Val is just over the road from a river beach for paddling and swimming (pebbles, so bring river shoes). It is a delightful spot and from here you can paddle over to the island and enjoy a picnic in the shade of the Acacia trees. Serious swimmers will love the municipal outdoor pool- great in the mornings if you like a quiet swim, but busier after lunch when families come to spend an afternoon there, playing in the paddling pools and the other two bigger pools. A 3 minute walk from the house takes you to the village centre. The cooler mornings are an excellent time to wander into the village to buy a coffee and a croissant- perfect! Foodies will be spoilt for choice in the vibrant Sunday-morning market where local farmers sell the finest local produce; foie gras, the freshest fruit and veg., goat's cheese, saucisson sec and pastel-coloured macaroons will tempt you as you stroll by. In the village there are also local bakers, restaurants (to suit all tastes and pockets) and bars, as well as interesting craftshops and art galleries. More strenuous activities include hiking, canoeing, climbing, cycling or paragliding. Lovers of history and culture will fall in love with the sleepy medieval villages and hamlets, and the cosmopolitan towns such as Toulouse and Albi... plenty to do for kids and adults alike!

“St.Antonin by the beach”

Anyone who has been to St.Antonin Noble Val knows that it is a beautiful ancient town in the Aveyron Gorge - hundred of miles away from the sea. However there is a beach (of sorts) at the riverside and this great house gives yiu easy access within minutes. We had a lovely stay in a great property - and we would return - but sadly the owners are selling so no one else will have the same enjoyment.
