Welcome to the Tamarack Shack. on our private 160 acres. Our rustic cabin is just that - not fancy. It has a woodstove, small table with chairs, 1 futons, bunk beds, and queen bed on small loft. Potable water is available right outside in the warmer months - in the winter, we bring in a water dispenser.

This is a backwoods experience no running water solar powered cabin.

NOTE: in WINTER, proficiency in the use of wood stoves is a MUST, so you do not get smoked out. Temperatures regularly dip below -20. There is an outhouse placed a few steps from the cabin. Understand that you will still be "roughing it"! We provide a few essentials like wash cloths, dishes, and blankets. there is mini fridge, camping stove, and BBQ (outside)

In the winter months you can go skiing or snow shoeing on trails on the property. In the evening, cozy up to a warm fire with a good book to relax the night away under starry skies and in complete silence, or watch a movie. There is a sauna you can use, a well as an outside shower in the summer.

Our family, and other guests, also enjoy the land all year-round. We are usually available to answer questions, but will not interfere with your stay.

As this property is our private home, we do not have staff. It is just me and my husband, working to make this space as safe and accessible as possible, on top of raising a family and working off site - So please understand that we are unable to provide all amenities to all guests at all times. Your independence is greatly appreciated.

I give my guests space but am available when needed We live at the end of the property so are available if you need us. When you check in you can head straight to your cabin, or stop by we can orient you with the property. After that we will do our best to give you your privacy and will be available on an as-needed basis. We can be reached through text or phone if you need to reach us during your stay. We would be excited to show you different places to go ATVing, hiking or biking. This is a place to get back to nature.

sorry your were not spring tick season ready. We have 3 dogs of our own that live one the property, and tick prevention with pills like Bravento is need for country living. In spring we walk the dog in the 80 acres of field in the front of the property as there not many ticks there.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Janice (the owner) a message.

If Janice (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
