Bill White's Alaska Sports Lodge is located in Sterling Alaska along the shores of the world famous Kenai River. More importantly, The Lodge sits just below where the Moose River empties into the Kenai River were making a perfect holding ground for salmon. Lodging consists of the Main lodge and cottages. Expect a well-run lodge, with comfortable rooms and outstanding fishing right outside of your door.

Fishing The Kenai with Bill White's Alaska Sports Lodge

This is a freshwater fishing lodge with the option of adding saltwater halibut fishing to your intermarry. The fully guided fishing trips put fishermen right on the river where record king salmon, trophy size rainbow trout and other native fish abound. The waters right in front of the lodge are perfect for salmon fishing because of the how the Moose River and the Kenai River interact. The result is a deep channel where the fish gather to rest before moving on towards their spawning grounds.

The Kenai is home to sockeye, silver, and pink salmon as well. Many fishermen love the king salmon or Chinook because of their massive size. The silver or Coho salmon are medium sized fish, but you'd never know it from their fight. They go berserk once the hook is set. Silver also strike hard. There is no wondering if that was a bite when you fish for silver because they are just as likely to rip the rod out of your grasp. Silvers are sports fishermen's dream fish. They leap from the water twisting and turning trying to get off the line. The best eating of all the salmon are the sockeye. Those hit the river in July. The Kings show up in June. The silver salmon show up in August. Along with the Kings are the trophy size rainbows and when the silvers are in the water the Dolly Varden are too.

Your fishing guides can set you up to fish along the banks or drift fish as you float down the Kenai. Expect a busy time-fighting salmon at Bill White's Alaska Sports Lodge. Let the lodge know before you arrive if you want to have an adventure fishing for halibut.

The Other Bits of Good Information

The Kenai River is the river where the world record king salmon was landed. The current record for king salmon is 126 pounds. Might you be the lucky fishermen to break that record? You could be because this is where the trophy kings swim.

There is plenty to do for the entire family around the lodge. Take the kids on a Razor Clamming adventure and everyone will have a blast. Razor clams are huge. They are about the size of a good-sized smartphone and great to eat. Mucking in the river at low tide for clams is total fun for kids and adults.

Overall, expect an outstanding stay and fishing trip from Bill White's Alaska Sports Lodge. The fishing action is heavy, and the local area is amazingly beautiful.

We had an excellent time. They did a great job processing our fish and were so helpful. Bed was comfortable and it’ll you can fish from a few steps from your cabin.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Bill (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
