Hendersick House is a substantial stone-built former farmhouse once the centre of a working farmstead of some 270 acres extending from here to the sea.
The location is magical with private access through the garden to coastal walks and a secluded beach that can only be reached on foot. Watch the moon rise over the sea through your bedroom window, the changing moods of the Rame Peninsular on the horizon and sheep peacefully grazing in Orchard Meadow in front of the house.
The 4 bedrooms are light, airy and simply furnished in keeping with the history and character of the house. The largest has a sea view, and its own balcony overlooking an old magnolia tree in the garden below. It has a double bed and an extra single bed that can be made up as required. There is a discreet washstand in the corner of the room. The middle front bedroom has a sea view and a big oak double bed whilst the bedroom opposite has matching antique single beds and a pleasant view across the garden to woodland alongside the lane leading down to Talland Bay. The fourth bedroom also with a sea view is a large double room with two large antique built in cupboards on either side of a small Victorian fireplace. There are two bathrooms with showers on the same floor. All towels are provided, quality cotton linens and there is an electric blanket on every bed.
The kitchen/dining room on the ground floor is equipped with ceramic hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. It's
a large room with an original slate floor and a farmhouse table at its centre providing an intimate space for socializing, board games and family meals.
The nearby lounge has a pleasant view across the walled front garden with the sea in the distance. The room is comfortably furnished and has polished wooden floor and original shutters at the window. There's a smart TV with Netflix and iplayer.
Heavy slate flagstone pave the hallway leading to a front door that opens on to your private walled garden with table, chairs and bbq facilities. Whilst you are free to explore the whole garden, this area and the front access to the house are strictly reserved for your private use.
I have a separate private entrance at the back of the house where I live and work as host and caretaker of the property (when I am at home).
Hendersick House is a living home and way of life with a long history in farming and hospitality. There is absolute respect for guests' privacy and no worries about the noise of laughter, enjoyment, loud conversation and boisterous children. This is a place to relax and perhaps find a little peace away from the pressures of the modern world.
