Description

NO BOOKING FEE! The Granary is a pretty two storey, one bedroom house recently converted from old farm buildings and overlooking the attractive courtyard on one side and the tennis court, stables and ménage on the other. Guests have free use of our well stocked fishing lake and the tennis court. There are also stables, a ménage and ample grazing on site if guests wish to bring their own horses on holiday (extra charge, please enquire).

On the ground floor of the Granary there is a beamed and beautifully furnished sitting room with Freeview Plus TV and french doors opening out on to a patio area in the courtyard. Through an archway there is the kitchen/dining room with dining table and chairs and a very well-equipped, fitted kitchen with dishwasher, induction hob, Nespresso machine, fridge with freezer compartment and combination microwave/oven. The house is very cosy with underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor. Upstairs there is a large double bedroom with room for a cot for a baby. The fully tiled bathroom has a bath with shower over.

There is good, free wi fi connection to the cottage.

There is a separate guest laundry with washing machine and tumbledrier available for guests to use.

Outside there is a patio with table/seating overlooking the tennis court.

There is an friendly pub in Knayton within walking distance serving excellent food (Wednesdays to Sunday’s, it is advisable to book well in advance).

Old Low Moor Farm is located in beautiful countryside over looking open fields with the Hambleton Hills in the background. It is approximately 4 miles from the picturesque market town of Thirsk, home to James Herriot and the Yorkshire Vet, and five miles from the county town of Northallerton with all its shops, cafes and restaurants, including a branch of the famous Betty's cafe.

Situated just on the edge of the North York Moors National Park there is easy access onto the Moors and the sea side resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. However the farm's central location also makes a trip into the Yorkshire Dales National Park a must for visitors. York and Harrogate are also within easy reach.

Walkers and cyclists are particularly welcome, there are numerous footpaths and places of interest nearby and Old Low Moor Farm is located on a National Cycle Route. We can provide secure indoor storage and washing facilities for bikes.

House rules

One well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement with the owners, please enquire. Please note that the staircase is an open tread wooden staircase which can be a hazard for dogs, a stair-gate can be provided if necessary.

Whilst the property is generally not suitable for children, babies are welcome to use a travel cot which can be provided on request.

Please also note that there is a lowish beam in the bedroom and so persons over five foot eleven will need to take care to duck under it.

“Outstanding”

This was our first visit and most definitely will not be the last! We stayed in The Granary. The cottage was perfect, providing everything needed, all of which are to the highest standard and quality. The welcome pack was a lovely touch with fabulous goodies. Karen and Jeff were perfect hosts, friendly and welcoming. Jeff was on hand to share his knowledge on fishing and was so kind in providing bait and offering to loan his fishing equipment. Was lovely to meet 'Tangles' too. Such a friendly dog. The farm is set in beautiful surroundings. The pub in the village was a 13 minute walk and well worth a visit. Thank you for a relaxing weekend break. Just what was needed!

This was our second stay at Old Low Moor Farm but our first in The Granary. It certainly didn’t disappoint! From the very warm welcome from Karen and Jeff to the thoughtful welcome basket left for us. It’s spotlessly clean and finished to a very high standard. The Granary has everything you need for your stay with plenty of space for two (and a cot if needed) and is very warm and comfortable. The location is really peaceful but convenient for the A19/A1M should you wish to explore everything that the surrounding area has to offer. We can also recommend the Dog & Gun in the village although you definitely need to book ahead. We love this place so much that we are returning over Xmas and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this little gem!

Lovely relaxing break with my husband and bichon fries. Beautiful well presented cottage Karen and Jeff such nice people. Very nice welcome basket liovely touch. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a chilled break away. Would definitely return.

We had an amazing time at this holiday cottage. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by the owners, Jeff and Karen. Nothing was too much trouble for them The cottage has been renovated to an outstanding standard with beautiful furnishings. There was a welcome basket with goodies in, including a bottle of wine, beer, cake, tea bags, cheese and milk. I would certainly recommend anyone to visit. We will definitely return with our friends.

We knew the area very well having visited the Dales many times and this cottage close to everything we needed. The Granary is well worth remembering and hope to make many more visits. It was in a good position for visits to the Dales, Moors, York and Harrogate and if you have children the seaside.
