Description

In a private location on the Wiltshire-Dorset border and set back in its own grounds from a quiet country lane, West Hatch Cottage is an attractive, substantial building with a particularly tranquil feel. Despite its name, it is in fact a spacious house. Its comfortable rooms provide a real 'family' feel and the surrounding lawns are a safe haven for children to play in. This is a truly ideal place to stay in an interesting and very varied area.

The England region

Tisbury

The surrounding countryside, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is mainly parkland and contains superb walks and rides, ideal for those keen on outdoor pursuits; and it is also very well-placed for exploring the considerable variety of attractions in the area. The Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury is nearby, whilst the cathedral city of Salisbury is about a 30 minute drive: between the two are ancient drove roads, green lanes affording wonderful riding or cycling and panoramic views. The New Forest and the World Heritage Dorset coast are easy day destinations. The Georgian city of Bath, and numerous ancient monuments such as Stonehenge and Old Wardour Castle, as well as superb historic houses like Stourhead, Montacute and Longleat can all be reached in an hour or so.
